because when your van dies and you have to have it towed or your battery fails it saves you alot of money and alot of time.

Ian

p.s I am not saying split relays are wrong just giving my view (this can happen, and with my luck it would)

I must admit, that would do my head in if i had to disconnect the battery and charge it, much easier just jumping in in the morning and going off to work, without the hassle ;)

I had a split charge relay in 2 vans
both have now been disconnected and I use smart charger
every other day.
Reason for this is my work is pretty compact and keep stop starting after short journeys does not charge the battery enough.
I would however re-connect if I had a decent journey to make as that would give the battery a decent charge.
Just my opinion  ;)

i got one from ebay that connects to the d+ wire on the alternator will never get a flat battery in van as it dosent connect to the main battery wires it connects to the d+wire which when you switch your engin on it makes the d+wire live when switched off it is not live i think the d+wire is the one that goes to your instrument pannel but don,t quote me on that
may be someone like jeff the electic windowcleaner can throw some light on this
hope it helps
