Title: Does anyone know?
Post by: Jimmy1 on May 12, 2008, 07:32:12 pm
Hi guys
Decided to do a photo gallery of recent work. Does anyone know how I would put a thumbnail picture on which enables people to enlarge to correct size for viewing. I'm on sitebuilder (fasthosts) I'm a bit stupid when it comes to these things, but would I need to do something to the picture first before I upload it? Sorry if this seems a daft question but if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks

make a copy og the image and make it smaller, and constrain it, so it looks the same when small, dodgy small images look bad.

make a new page for the big image, call it say window-cleaning-a-conservatory.htm
make image load quick.

then on the page that you want the thumbnail on select image you are using for thumbnail and make a hyperlink to it (ie www.windowwashers.co.uk/window-cleaning-a-conservatory.htm

save and test it,
you should then click the small image and the big one will open in new page (I forgot you have to tell the image to open in new page, and the reason I say this is because people will view it thewn want to go back to the page easier to close page than go back as many do not know how to do this, you could add a close this page link to the big image to bring you back to the thumb nails image page. anothewr way is click link go to image and have a back button that goes back to last viewed page.

Sorry if that sounded complex in anyway I try to speak straight english when talking about webdesign.
