On the brush one water jet is stronger than the other. I have cleaned it out and it keeps swapping from one side to the other with one side stronger than the other. Has anyone ever experienced this and any ideas what to do.

It will be a blockage in the Y piece. When you turn the water off to look for it, it will go back down slightly into the pole hose. The reason it switches sides is that it will switch from the left hand outlet to the right hand outlet. The only way to cure it is to completely disconnect the Y piece and blow it back out the inlet. Also, turn the pole hose on with no Y piece connected to flush out the top section of pole hose. Often these blockages are translucent bits of swarf from the tank manufacture which is why they are very hard to see as when they are surrounded by water in the hose, they look much the same as the water.

I've noticed that in my 400l flat tank i have a lot of foreign bits leaves etc probably from when I have the lid off to stick a transfer hose in.
My tank is over a year old and gets filled twice most days, so how do I get the rubbish out and how do I make sure this rubbish doesn't get through the pump and into my heater?

Cleaned my 400 flat tank out today by taking it out of van and propping it up against wall at an angle with outlet down lowest (after unscrewing elbow out) then just flush as much pure as it takes around the tank using my transfer pump hose to swill all the debris out, took me about 10 mins and all but a couple of tiny particles came out ;D
As for you other question.... get a filter

Do you not have a strainer on your system ? if not get one ;)

I fitted a 10" filter housing and a 5 micron spun filter, just before the pump.
