Hi guys, I normally float around in the window cleaning section of this forum and occasionally stumble into the other cleaning department but I have a question that you guys may be able to help with.

Basically, i am trying to get my foot in the door with some local councils regarding EOL cleans.  Got a meeting set up with one next week.  I will be looking to buy a pretty decent carpet cleaning machine for the odd clean ups here and there.  Now I dont have a limitless credit card to go mad on but was thinking of getting a rug doctor.  ( hired one recently and was quite impressed).  I think I have seen them advertised for about £500.  ???

What do you professional guys think would be a good machine for my position.

hi Ant

There are alot of threads on this section re this question so you could just read through but I would get your self on a training course first. Prochem in Surrey, NCCA in the midlands. Once you have done a course you will have a decent idea of what your doing and be more informed about which equipment to get.

If I were you I would take a carpet cleaner with you to this meeting as they might ask you some questions that you will not be able to answer ie. drying times, eco friendly carpet cleaning, access, sanitisation etc

If you were to compare carpet cleaning equipment to cars, the rug doctor would probably be a Citroen.

A 2 cv, as good as that?  ;)

I'm not going into c/c as a profession I just need a machine to tackle stains or the occasional accident.  What can be recommended in place  of the 2cv for simular money?

If its just for Stains Ant you can get spotting machines that will be much more suited (and will take up lots less room in van.

Prochem, Ashbys, Altec, amtech will all do them. Have a look on t express site or even restormate. Sure John Kelly can sort you out

It's just a rug doctor isn't  built in the same way as say..... a Chemspec machine  ;)

You can clean a carpet with a rug doctor and also you can chop someones head off with a butter knife! don't buy a machetti ie top of the range but you may need something sharper than a Rug Doctor.
