pole clamp nuts ;D
the ones on universal poles
you know the one
threads the wrong way
always the first bit to wear
anyone know where you can buy the nut only
preferably cheaply
or any alternatives

i think that most places only sell em as part of spare clamp
or they sell spare levers
i just want nuts
and plenty of em ;D

We do sell the nut with the handle and bolt, but not just on it's own.

no luck

i know of a specialist nut and bolt maker, they wil make anythig you need, you will need to send them a sample of what you want
fairly cheap aswell, i have a bit of polished stainless steel work done with them

I'll give the company in my link a call tomorrow and see if they have what you need, Do you have any idea of the size of nut? and I take it, its a left handed thread?

head size i will guess at 15mm
i dont have a metric spanner that fits it
5 16ths whitworth
3 8ths bs
fit ok
these are the plastic nuts with metal thread insert
no idea of internal thread specs
basically its just the nut on a universal type pole clamp
surely some supplier sells em on their own ???

Just been intouch with wentin fastners for you and they need to know if its defiantly a witworth thread or is it a unc thread?
They do do some left handed thread nuts.
If they don't have the size you need, they can order them for you.

Just thought I'd mention that only Exel in Finland makes these nuts. The fact that it's a reverse thread isn't so important, it's the shape on the back of the plastic nut that has been designed to fit into the bottom of the socket on a universal clamp housing. An ordinary nut would not sit in properly and therefore would not hold in the right position.

Just went out into the workshop Alex to see what you meant? so I had a look at my old universal pole.
I see it has a small dome shaped plastic cover on the nut, what you may be able to do is take a fine bladed hacksaw and cut the old cover off, and maybe reglue it back onto the new nut? Never tried it, so not 100% sure.
L.J. If you don't want all that Hasstle, I would just buy a new clamp from Alex.

Alex, ever thought about stocking the clamp parts seperately ??? there was a company in peterboro who sold wfp gear and they stocked lots of parts for universal type poles including seperate clamp components but they have now closed :(

Perhaps this is why they closed - they were left with too many universal bolts and levers and they went bankrupt! :) I'm just about to put an order in to Finland so I will request some nuts on their own. For the time being, would you like to buy a nut and I will break with tradition and leave the poor lever and bolt orphaned until the shipment comes in. :)

i can probably hang on until you get the order through and then buy 10 or so
i have still got one left in toolbox was really trying to find a source for future ;D
need some more resin soon so maybe you can chuck one in with that ;D
