Am going to be buying a wfp tonight and was wondering what size I should get ?
At the moment I will be concentrating on domestic work. There are 3 story houses in my area (the ones with garage and two other levels ontop) that I would like to target.
What size poles would you recommend?
I was just going to go out and get a 30 ft one, but not too sure now.
All advise would be appreciated.

depending on your budget, the sl-x would be ideal, if you are low on funds 34' xtel will get to most domestic windows, is a little on the heavy side, I use a 17ft xtel daily (very cheap to replace)
I have 4 17ft xtel a 34' hybrid and 2 4ft poles (used the little once)

I would definitely recommend either the 13ft Xtel or the 17ft Xtel for most of your work (cheap and light) and pair it with a 28ft Xtel for your occasional high work.

Bang on, I have a 17 and 28, they are a cracking combination. Make sure the 28ft is a hybrid though.

if you want to go for 3s houses 17ft is not big enough IMHO
-
if you have 3 story houses you are better getting a 28 rather than 17ft. I can reach some 3 story with 17ft xtel, but definitely not all.
-
I use a 24ft hybrid, it's light and not too big!
Mind you I had to turn down some fourth story work Just too short...that was on tip-toes with my arm's at full stretch..
-
If an "ACTUAL" length of 25ft (30ft reach) is ok for you then i would go for the SL-X from gardiners without question (if your budget permits).
No need for 2 poles, this one will do everything from ground to 30ft ( especialy with angle adaptor + swivel ).
IMO cheap poles are false economy, they're cheap for a reason, do yourself a big favour & spend a tad more, where it counts, to get the best!
SL-X is (i think) 340 quid + vat = Absolute Bargain! ;)

if you just need a cheap pole for domestic, buy a 5m harris pole from B&Q they are brilliant, very light and only cost only £15, quite a lot of us have them,
-
Just get an SLX,it`s the only pole you`ll need under 30ft.I still can`t beleive how much easier it is to work with 1 pole up and down, when the new brush arrives it will be even better.
-
I have a harris pole, a facelift carbon, an extender & a excel fibreglass. If you're serious about wfp, want good, reliable equipment go for the sl-x. Don't want to offend any harris pole users though. ;)

Experiment with the £15 pole and then move upwards to carbon fibre when you get the bigger jobs and can afford it.

If you're new to wfp that's good advice, i assumed you were just buying a new pole. ;)

A 17 xtel is about £100 a 28 ft xtel hybrid about £300, both great poles. A SLX is £400 and is an unbelievable pole, as light as the 17ft but almost as long as the 28ft xtel, and a lot more rigid.
If you have no 3 story work yet then just get the 17ft, and buy what you need when you need it at a later date otherwise get the SLX. The 28ft hybrid is still a good pole though.

For all my 2 story work I use a Brodex 18ft Prolong. Brilliant pole. Bit on the pricey side but guaranteed for 30 months, and so far living up to the claims.
We also use converted Cleantech 18ft poles. Very light and strong, and the best bit is the clamps are replaceable and only cost £1.50 each, makes the poles last almost indefinitely.
-
You will need at least a 24 foot pole for 3 storey. If you look at the picture on the homepage of my website i am using a 24 foot powerpole and as you can see, I wouldnt be able to go any higher with it.

I use a 21' x-tel (24' reach for my everyday pole. up to yet, this has reached every 2 storey victorian house and every modern 3 storey that i've come across.
it might help if you gave us an idea of budget?
If I was starting from scratch i'd get a harris pole from b & q, they're almost disposable!
-
Looking at all the reply's I was almost sorry I didn't go for the 28ft pole.
But on reflection 24ft is ample for my needs.
I do mostly domestic, like I said before the hybrid is light.
Budget is important, but if you scrimp you pay later, why pay twice?
I think I paid £340 for mine, it's since paid for itself ten times over!
-
24ft hybrid excel pole will do almost all 3 storey work and is probably the best value for money and ease of clamps.
