I always thought ultra sonics were contain in a unit and used to cleaned items such as blinds and smoke damaged goods.
I don't think that ultra sonics can be used outside a closed container as it will affect your body in some strange way.

Ultra sonic cleaning is only used in immersion baths.

Well, that's what I thought, until about a year ago.

There is a method where a small transponder is applied directly to a stain - it's rather like an ultrasonic toothbrush, but incorporates other bits if kit that make it less than easily portable.

Details are sparse and some of the (very little) information I have was passed to me in confidence, so please do not ask me for more.

This product is in the development stage, so if they can get it to work and onto the market at a viable price, I expect will will hear more in a year or so.

i do believe there are a number of machines on market for all types of ulta sonic cleaning , one i do know that is been seen more is at golf clubs, for club head cleaning ,
you simply insert club into tank , switch on and 5 mins later bright and shiny club heads ,
so i would hazzzard a guess that the technoligy has been utilised for any number of jobs ???

Ultrasonic Cleaning process (for carpet cleaning) is nothing new and was tried back in the '80's ; promoted heavily by one major company and died just as fast.

Bottom line (in this Industry) is that this process is too slow for minium cleaning (time) performance required.

Ultrasonic process requires "soaking" as one of its key vital elements to complete the process if done well. (Kind of like the function of waves in the Ocean)

Those are just my thoughts and experience on this subject.

Ultra Sonics is not just for blinds, but also used in the cleaning of fire damaged goods.Practically anything can be cleaned in a ultra sonic tank including electronic items such as computers,so long as the correct solutions are used.

If you go to the jewelers to have your rings, chains etc cleaned it is done using ultra sonics.

Engineering firms use it for cleaning engine parts and all manner of other items.

The reasons it used in so many forms of cleaning is because it is safe on practically any items.

Funnily enough real wooden slatted blinds are not recommended to be cleaned using ultra sonics as it can dull the finish.

In relation to what nobby was asking the only items relating to carpets that can be cleaned are carpet tiles but I wouldn't want to take them all up one at a time to dip in a tank, would you?

Nobby,

Will do sir.

Ed,

The equipment I refer to is not the same as was peddled over there. It is intended only for spot treatment of stains.
