Post by: jonah on May 06, 2008, 09:32:43 pm
Been looking athe different sytems to filter water ie - 4040, merlin etc , is it best to check tds and water pressure first before deciding on which one to go for ? And what is the best way to check these ?  Thank you please  ;D

for water pressure a water board official once asked me to fill a marked bucket/container with water and see how much was in after a minute..he then gauged his calculation from this, mine was low due to old piping so we put new in and it now blasts out.

for tds order a hand held meter from r/o man  cost aprox 20 quid....hope that helps

jonah ....only just got hooked up with filtering water mysen in the last week...my tds reading out of the tap is 70....I did a job in Rothwell the other day and their reading was 250....so it can vary a lot,so id say mine was softish.

Gardiners used to send out a water pressure gauge for you to check your pressure but not sure if they still do it try emailing Kirsty or Alex to find out.
Failing that b&q sell water pressure gagues
