Title: Wool Rug

Do you normally clean rugs in situ or take them away?

In addition to cleaning a lounge and 2 large cotton 2 seaters, I've also been asked to clean a long pile wool rug.  It's a relatively small room and I'd have to leave the rug on protective sheeting in order to separate it from the cleaned/damp carpet.  Is this what you do?

Hi Cheryl

Well most cc like to take rugs away to do at a time or place that is convenient for them selfs. And you can sometimes charge more to do this, also no customer looking over your shoulder. But if you have to set up your machine etc you might as well do it there as long as there is another room you can put it in to dry as leaving it on top of a damp carpet is not a good idea. What i sometimes do is take the rug away clean it and bring it back on the day of cleaning, nice and dry rolled up in a plastic cover with the bill on it. This looks very professional.

Hi Gavin,

Thanks yr reply.  I will go along with your suggestion.  It looks far more professional and as this is the first time I've cleaned such a rug, I think I'd prefer to be on my own and in my own time.
