Title: Need new pump, desperate!
Post by: Sir Squeaky on May 05, 2008, 12:45:14 pm
I've checked that my problem wasn't the battery by connecting the pump to the van battery.
Same result, feeble flow. :(

Right then...new pump.

1. Where's the quickest place to get one?

2. I was using a 60psi Flojet. The Surflow's are cheaper, any disadvantage to having one of them instead?
Are the fittings the same?

squeeky, chances are the magnets in the housing of the pump have come loose, they are normally glued into place but this glue often fails.  Ask whoever you bought it from to take a look, and if it needs re-glued then it should be done with araldite, or a very strong epoxy resin.

as for the shurflo pumps we have been using them for years, the original pumps are still working fine, we bought new ones because we got a deal on them and felt it was a sensible option.  Never had a problem with shurflo and highly recommend them - we use 4 pumps everyday and use a lot of water so they do get worked hard and have yet to fail us.

The first shurflo pumps we bought are now about 5years old and still going strong.

Cheers Alan.

No time to send the pump off, I need to work.

Anyone know the quickest place to get a Surflow?

yeah window cleaning warehouse would be your best hope - although ring them first to check they are open if you are going to go today.

I would lend you a pump but you could be a bit too far to drive up!

Buy a spare while you are there. It never hurts to keep a spare and sods law means that because you have one you will never ever need it.
