I have been asked to quote for a gutter clear at a school, will require some mewp work but alot can be done with a vac, i usually do domestic gutter clears.
can anyone give me an idication of a price per meter for the commercial work?
obviously i would have to add the platform rental onto the price,
I dont want to go in too cheap but would like to get the job so dont really want to go down the "look at how long its going to take route and work out the hourly rate"
its a big job (for me anyway!!)

I priced up a big commercial gutter clean recently at £3.50 a metre, and it looks like I've got the job!! ;D Only trouble is I was going to hire out an omnivac, but they have a mesh over them, and I read somewhere on here that the omnivac dosn't work very well when the gutters have a mesh over them!! :( So back to the drawing board as to what method to use when cleaning them ??? The trouble is that most of the building is 3 stories high so a ladder really is out of the question!! :(

jet wash on a pole
i did a OAP home a few times, i used a jet wash with a " drain unblocker " zip tied to the pole
it worked well and cost next to nothing to setup

I dont understand this - If the gutters have mesh over them, why will they need cleaning?
The whole point of the householder spending money having mesh fitted over the gutters is to prevent debris getting into the gutters and save the need and expense of future cleaniing.

glyn stuff still gets under the mesh and you can end up with a full lawn under there, i found the only way was to take the mesh out

Depends how big the holes in the mesh are. Lots of roofs have moss on them and this breaks off in very small bits and ends up in the gutter.

Also sometimes u get a load of sand type material in the gutters occasionally 2" deep

Sounds like a good idea matt, but didn't it make a lot of mess down the wall and on the windows?

the "drain unblocker" has a end to it that has 3 jets
yes the windows got dirty ( i had to clean them aswell ) BUT when i didnt need the clean them, this is what i did
i got a Gutter cleaner attachment ( its like a big spoon ) and scraped it away from the windows, then i skipped the window bits with the jet wash
it took a little longer but i was happy

Cheers matt, I may give that a go!! I am going to go and have a good look at the job next week as I haven't even looked into the gutters yet! they may be relatively clean as its a fairly new building, only a couple of years old I believe.

so at the minute its £3 - £5 a meter depending on method needed and access, so very similar to domestic then, just a lot more of it!!!!!!!!!
any other price tips are welcome, do you add a charge for down pipes? or included in the price?

Commercial gutter cleaning = £2.50 per foot + £10 for an average downpipe.

£2.50 a foot seems alot, thats £7.00 a meter ish.... will they pay that???
