It is likely the brick were already suffering from Efflorescence, this is salts coming to the surface due to moisture. This was probably masked by the dirt and moss until you pressure washed it off. It is likely the brickwork is saturated its full depth due to long term problems with the down pipe. I'm afraid until all the moisture has evaporated from the bricks, and depositing salts as it evaporates, it would be pointless even trying to remove it. Just explain this to the customer.
