i did a a short length of gutter this week, not a scheduled job but turned up to do windows and cust says they were overflowing after recent storms
got ladders out and they were SOLID
rammed with muck, plants growing in it ,wedged under the tiles
really needed some stick to shift it
how do guttervacs cope with that ???

A gutterspike is used to break up the soil and can be used to hook out roots etc. The gutters can then be vacumed.

From bungalows to 60ft with just 1 man operation.
Poles still showing no sign of internal wear.
For a readymade system then the Omnipole gutter-vac system is well worth a look at, but it is a lot heavier and is a 2 man operation from 48ft...

i have seen 1500watt comercial vacs on ebay for under £80. What is the difference between these and the ones sold be gardiners or omnivac. granted omnivac sell a complete kit ready to go, but stil big difference in price.
-
Another question for those using guttervacs. Which generator would I need and how is it measured watts or kva?
-
I think you'll find that generators are always measured in kVA. For heating loads, kVA and kW are the same. For things with very powerful electric motors, there can be a big difference between kVA and kW.

Height!
lower watts! lower suction!
Smaller jobs
Higher watts! higher suction
Bigger jobs
Think big go big
Think small stay small

Nice quote "think big" ;)

So how big a generator would I need to power the omnivac.

5.5kv

thanks Jeff as always you come up with the answers. Do you use a gutter vac Jeff and if so is it worth the hassle of setting up etc?
On a different topic Jeff do you still make your own high reach poles using carp fishing poles as I was thinking of getting a new set from Gardiners?
thanks Michael

Is there a [picture of this? How much is it? Can it fit on any pole or does it have to be an omnipole?
