I claen every time. Cant see the point of clean glass and black frames. I,m a window cleaner, not a glass cleaner
-
i said this before about being a window cleaner and not a glass cleaner and frames should always be done.

spot on jaykie. If I wanted to clean just glass I'll work in a pub, anyway with wfp its easier to do the lot
-
I am trad and always do all the frames. It amazes me when after other window cleaners have been that they leave the frames black. What is the point?
-
once hear of a guy wouldn't even clean the sill off after he had done the glass. i think if the frame is given a good going over on the first clean it doesn't take much more than a good wipe after that.
-
When cleaning 'trad' I do the frames (nearly) every time.
When using WFP I sometimes miss the top of the frame (above the openers -very often can't get the brush onto it properly anyway)
-
double the charge 1st clean clean the lot then wipe over, not too hard, i see bloke the other week doing the glass and the frame was like it had been put behind a car exhaust for 3 years.

When trad would charge extra for frames, with wfp they are included.
there has been quite a few posts about frame cleaning, and people saying a window includes the frame, IMO a window is the glass you look out of not everyone agrees with this but they are my thoughts.
when trad did quite well with extra's like frames now being wfp it is just as easy to clean the frame at the same time.

But this is like a window fitter coming round putting windows in and no glass, then question it and they say were window fitters not windows and glass fitters,

IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT THE CUSTOMER IS WILLING TO PAY.
-
What ammazes me is the number of customers who have a cleaner and dont care if the windows frames are cleaned or not.
-
When I was trad I did the frames every other clean or so but always the sill.
However the very tops of the upstairs might nor get done if it was too much of a stretch because typically you can get to the corner of the glass with the extra length a squeegee blade provides but need another six inches of reach to wipe the frame corners with a cloth.
Since going wfp I tend to do the frames and openers but the very top frame upstairs every other or third time as dirt becomes visible from the ground.
Always the sill tho'

No frames wfp at all, infact never in 4 years wfp. do the frames look dirty? no. has anyone ever mentioned how the frames are dirty? no. have i ever been asked to clean the frames? no.
I have tried it in the past but it gave me nothing but unreliable results, i'm talking top frame here.
I would if asked of course but would charge extra.
However, i never sold wfp to any customer on clean frames etc, i saw it as making a rod for my own back. I get perfect results & never get a complaint, why should i clean the frame?
Feel free to look through my 2000 back posts & see if you can find one where i have trouble with spots, dirty drips etc! you won't.

You may not have spots and dirty drips but you do have dirty frames!!!
It's so easy to clean the frames with wfp that it's as lazy as hell not to, but hey, if your customers are happy with half a job who am I to judge!!
-
As long as the customer is genuinely happy with the result then that is physically all that matters regardnig you business being successful.
With me the sides and sills get a quick pass with the brush every time and i wipe the top of the frame (ground floor only) with a cloth about every three months. This keeps the frames looking good. I also do the whole of the plastic door for what it takes.
I do it because i want to (priced accordingly), it probably does not make me any more successful than just doing the glass, would just need to have a few more houses on my books for the cash adjustment.

I think it looks more professional!
I cleaned everything on traditional and now on pole I do everything apart from a quick glance at top sills...but then I cant see them!
I always tell my customers that I do and they are happy...of course I charge more.

pointless topic
if your wfp you cant clean the frames every time anyway, not all frames are suitable.
