Title: Vac motors- Heavy Duty- How can u tell?
Post by: Chris R on January 10, 2005, 01:05:54 pm
My machines got 1 x 3 stage Heavy Duty vac and 1 x 3 stage standard vac. (Ashbys)

My question is - when I need to replace a vac motor how do I know that I am getting the same type of heavy duty vac sent to me?

Do they look different or have writing on them?

If I order from a company that is not the supplier of my machine will they be able to supply the same spec vac motor?

cheers
Chris

The model number is on the fan end bracket.

Heavy duty Lamb Ametek 117123 http://www.alltemp.ca/vacuum/pdf/11712300.pdf

Ordinary duty 116859 http://www.alltemp.ca/vacuum/pdf/11685900.pdf

and if you want to change the brushes they both take 2 off part no. 33423-12

Ashcroft Agencies (01202 499149) and WCS (01279 422220) are better priced than Ashbys.

Dennis

Are those numbers for the 7.2" or 5.7"? and is it the same brushes for both sizes of motor?

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,

Those are 5.7" units.

The plastic brush carrier is different to those used on the 7.2" versions.

If I remember right with Amtek vacs, the heavy duty(1500w) are all  metal. the light duty(1200w) have a black plastic rim ( where the bolts fit through)

Dennis,

Don't you find that site as upsetting as it is usefull?

I hate to read the specs of some vac units not available in 230 volt flavour  >:(
