? I'm not sure about what you mean with that, do you mean that the clamps don't grip it properly anymore? If so, just use an Allen key and tighten them again.

If it is a plastic clamped pole, then fit new clamps to it.

Just make sure you take a proper look a the SLX you`ll love it,it`s a true up and downer all in 1 and saves a surprising amount of time over the course of the day not having to keep changing poles.I see you post from time to time about saying you use 17ft XTEL poles, buy this pole and there never come out of the van again.

why?

With the Facelift poles once the ridges have worn off the clamps will not be able to catch anymore. Any sections that have worn like this will need replacing with new sections. If it is just a couple of section then it might be economic to do this, any more and it would be best to replace the whole pole.

The only way to improve on the life of the pole is to get an Aluminium pole, they do have a much longer lifespan than composite poles. The downside is they are heavier and more flexible.

Do you mean the clamps are not gripping anymore if so tighten them and then try it.

ok thanks alex

how long would you give one of your sl-x poles b4 wearing .
?

About 2 weeks!!  ;D Only joking

Wear rates are very difficult to predict and do depend upon each user and how well they clean and maintain their poles. All we can say is that we still have our first SL-X prototype in daily service and it is 11 months old and still in good working order, with minimal wear.

The SL-X is a composite pole though so will wear out. The main benefit of the SL-X is its height to weight ratio and the compact length of section along with its great rigidity.

When the pole is worn too smooth to the point that new fitted clamps still won't grip the pole securely, here's my suggestion. Strip the pole apart and paint the entire length of each section of pole with Hammerite paint to put an extra layer of thickness back on the pole diameter. Repeat with a second coat if need be. Allow a good 24hours for the paint to dry and harden then re-assemble the pole. Because the sections now have a wider diameter (with the paint on) the clamps will grip the pole better than previously, once again.

I have 3 extel hybrid poles and I find that the tape wears away that prevents the pole from being completely removed when extending. I've now painted the bottom of the pole sections with Hammerite paint in a different colour so that when I'm extending the poles I know when I've reached the poles safe limit because I've reached my colour marker. The other advantage with doing this is that I can remove or add sections as need be easily, similar to using a Facelift pole.

There is no facility for buying the SL-X pole online at the moment. We have had the entire production run sold out before we received the first batch of poles.

We are in the process of sorting out the last few clients who have reserved a pole, after this there may be a few left unaccounted for. If there is we will make them available. The second production run will be us in about 3 weeks time anyway.

I don't think he needs to do this as they are selling pretty quick, I can't get my hands on one, and if he did the price would probably be £680 BOGOF.(buy one get one free)
Nobody ever gives owt away (except me) or so it seems when I try to sell something. LOL

Don't be fooled by bogof poles, there is a very good reason why a certain supplier gives away a free pole. ;)

How long have you had your pole?

Had my carbon facelift 18 months now, only ever cleaned it once & it gets some proper hard use. The top three sections are worn the most BUT every clamp still performs perfectly & in 18 months i can count on one hand how many times i've had to adjust any of the clamps. Having said that, the top section does now look quite worn, only time will tell. ;)
