Title: Builders Cleans
Post by: Wipe Away on April 28, 2008, 02:30:48 pm
Hi all,

I have been working on a site which seems a life time ! Originally the job was to build clean then sparkle 9 units, 2 of which are flats, the company is new and does not really know what they are doing.

I quoted for the whole job quite good money....

Day 1 asked to go there got to the sites and they were not ready for us still had cupboards to be fitted in kitchen tiles to do etc etc... I rang the company and said this and they said they needed us there and could we do what we could as the mastic man was coming in (to early for him)

Day 2 Same not ready we ended up cleaning a few units then leaving.

Day 3 some 2 weeks later, went back up and the first units we cleaned were a right state and we ended up going back over them.

Day 4 same old same old........

anyway some 8 visits later and we have now done the builders clean after recleaning 6 units over again.

They now want the sparkle cleans done to which we have already done 5....

Lets recap > 9 units some cleaned 3/4  f****** times 5 sparkle cleans and a three hour round trip each time. I quoted for the builders cleans and sparkle as a job lot (school boy error I know). I had pre booked my diary for the job but because of the delay I am now fitting in around over work.... they are moaning because i cannot finish for at least another week, I really feel like telling them where to go but have weighed out alot of cash on man power for the work and is still profitable AT THE MOMENT, but i have done more then my share of work for the site.

If i tell them where to go technically I have not finished the job so they could not pay, and I would have to sue them or Send some of my cage fighting mates to collect....

Or continue to work as we can to get the money in.

By the way I have sent them an e mail asking for a good will gesture as I have been there so many times, and have not had a reply.

What would you do ?

I have been doing this quite a long time and would have usually walked off before starting and told them to call me when they were ready, but they were desperate. They have had sorts walk off ie painters, brickies, electricians etc etc.

hi there

i would be asking questions about why so many have walked off site, could be money issues.

be careful.

if you have been doing build cleans, for a long time, then why did you price this up as group unit,???

you should always quote buildclean, reclean, sparkleclean.

i would be jumping up and down at the site agent, andwould have stood my ground about them not beung ready to be cleaned.

regards

martin

Seerclean is right, thats how it is every time allmost, you need to remember to clean it and sign it off, it they want you to go in again you charge them either your re-clean price or day rate price, on this one I would bite the bullet get your money and learn from it, on another note did they agree your 7 day turn arround for payment? usually 30 days
+ for your money. regards Phil
