Title: Raising awareness of WFP
Post by: AJ on April 28, 2008, 01:09:30 pm
I am considering writing to the BBC to ask them show a short clip of a wc using a pole system to clean windows on Albert Square. As long as I have watched Eastenders, Ian Beale and co have never had their windows washed (they must be rotten). All I would ask for is a 5 second or so back ground clip of someone using a system. I think this would be enough to get all those people who have never heard of wfp thinking about getting their high level windows cleaned. I would promote it from the safety aspect as there are far too many ladder accidents within the business etc

Am I just having a nutty moment or do you think it sounds reasonable? :-\

I think it's a great idea! Especially if they could get Pat Butcher to say: " 'ere look at that geezer wiv 'is long rock, I'm going down the frog to the fish to get some bees for me sky and see if 'e'll do my windas" ;D

He was, but he used to muck in with stan when it got 'really busy'!
Anyway, back on topic. What do you think to the idea?

Second thoughts, I actually think it is a bad idea as it is only going to encourage more people into window cleaning which will result in less work for us all and lower prices!!!  :(
Sorry to put a dampner on your idea!! Bring back Eddie and Stan though that would be good!!!!!!! ;D

I think its a good idea. I think we should poll this topic. If the poll got good results we should get a petition together and send it in!

Watching Eastenders is enough to start anyone on anti-depressant tablets. It must be the most depressive soap EVER. I'd rather watch the test card than watch that boring twoddle IMO.

Fair comment Wayne, but there are plenty of people with dirty windows that do watch it.

Why don't you contact yell.com! they are doing TV ads at the moment, people behind the ads (tradesman's) now that would raise awareness (national TV)

I think this forum is getting quieter in general, probably the result of people getting fed up with having their posts/threads locked or deleted everytime it starts to get interesting!!!! I hope this forum dosn't become a desolate ghost town like the once brilliant and lively Cleaning Pros has now become!!!! ???

Mmm, this thread is getting perilously close to being moved to the other business area....This isn't the section for jokey reply after jokey reply.

The idea makes sense I think, you don't need main characters to be doing the job though, just some extra in the background.
It would be good to have a modern, pro looking window cleaner for a change and not to have some stereotypical Stan Ogdon type.

My mate Barry used to provide the taxis used in East Enders whenever they wanted one for one of thier shots.
I used to pick up a lot of the East Enders cast and take them into the studio in the mornings because we used to do all the BBC work. They don't look that glamerous at 5.30 in the morning with no makeup.

I think you would find that they were quite approachable. Maybe suggest it as a story line that one of them starts window cleaning.

I can't see Pat Butcher looking glamerous at any time.

I can sense Ian's finger twitching to move this thread to the "other business" area ;D

Well lets get it back on message then. Who is going to suggest having a window cleaner on the square?

Ionics would be the obvious candidate.
