did you check with company house prior to naming yourself as a trader? is it a case of if the name isn't on company house you can trade unde rit ?
-
Generally speaking if you are a sole-trader you can trade under any name you want to. This applies unless it can be proven that you have used a name to take business away from an established competitor. Even this would only come up if it went to court.

Great, I am changing my name to "Gucci window cleaning"
with the strapline "Most people can't afford it"
Fits my company image well

Is "Splash and Dash" taken?
-
We have noticed amongst our customer base that it is amazing how window cleaners use the same trading name. I think the most that we have is four clients with exactly the same trading name, all from different areas.
