Title: 20amp battery charger
Post by: clearview window c on April 23, 2008, 06:09:08 pm
my batterys have been barely lasting half a day. i have a 110amp and an 85a battery. my charger is only 6amps per hour charge. i think that was the problem. ive bought a 20amp charger will that be ok.
or will it damage the battery.

it should be fine, as long as you don't try to charge them at 20amps - 8 amps is about right.

ive had all sorts of conflicting advice up to now. the problem is the charger i have bought charges at either 3 amps or 20. one bloke said 20 amps will be the best if i charge it for 3 hours on fast charge and then drop it down to three. is that right or should i get an 8amp with a trickle charge. ??? ??? ???

20amps will overheat a 110Ah battery - smart chargers are better, thats what we use. Its a 16Amp smart charger, we charge on 8amps and it cost £60.
