hi guys i bought a 200gpd ro unit from pure freedom on ebay and got it for a good price also bought a di vessel but i have hardly used it in fact it has only been working for the last month and i dont mean like a work horse either 4 days a week max to get me the required amount of water. and at first it read 0 reading and just today horified to see it read 9 tds and that was straight out of the pipe into a glass, so i did it again with the same reading so i was wondering would i need to keep changing the resin every month is this rgiht. please give good advice, also is this ro machine any good. cheers mike

changing resin once a month sounds a bit frequent given your low output. You don't say how big your DI vessel is. Whats the TDS between the RO and the DI ?

i got the same , best get something thats a bit better imo. my tds 300 from tap then ro sends tds down to about 30 then di does rest, and have to change resin every 500 litres :o

i got the 300gpd ro from freedom and my tap water tds is about 300 , no problems it produces 1000 litres every 24 hours and the resin lasts about 2 months regards alan

my di vessel is a 10inch one and i am more than supprised myself that it only lasted this long, my water reading is 316 and after going through ro is 23 than it was 0 but now reading 9 so i don't know how long it has been like this as i only checked today. so i will buy so resin and see if it makes anydifference. by the way sheep miester yes it is the chief.

my tap reading is sometimes as high as 575 nightmare
I got a 200 and produce upto 3000 per month and mine jumps after a month so just change the resin and all good back to 0
it is slow but it is consistant

10" one like the same size as the pre-filter ones??? When I used one of those I had to change the resin every week nearly,.. they only hold 700ml of resin!

That sounds about right to me.
You will need to change your resin in one of those 700ml chambers every week with that unit.

I have the same 10" DI filter. It's given me about 5000 litres of 000. It has just started to creep up to 001 or 002.
As my RO unit is giving 009 I'm surprised that the resin has been used up so fast.
I wonder if it has anything to do with how often you operate it.
I've noticed that the output from the RO unit can be very high in TDS for the first minute or so and then settles down. If this is going straight into the DI unit, it's having to do a lot of work - even if it is for just a few litres.
I'm going to experiment with disconnecting the DI and allowing the RO unit to run for a while until the TDS reading drops and then reconnect the DI.

I've got the 300gpd unit.
My tap tds is between 385-425.
RO takes it down to between 14-20.
From that my 10inch DI vessel gives me between 1500-2000ltrs of '0' tds water followed by another 5-600ltrs of 1-5 tds water which still works fine for me. After that I replace it as the spent resin seems to dump dirt back into the water and the tds rises rapidly.

yeah thanks guys took the hint and bought 25lt from cleaning spot on ebay including delivery £77 which was the cheapest hope this stuff is as good as what pure freedom and gardiners sell. but still been using it at reading of 9 and windows have been perfectly clean. stuff only arrived this morniing. Question on glass do you guys have these glass when you give it a good srub and rinse it like snakes all over the window instead of a curtain of smooth running water?. i hate this snakeing i call it the 1000 snake glass and i am never confident when i leave it. anybody else ever feels that way or maybe a different type of glass, my other nightmare apart from vents onto the glass itself are old wooden frames painted white, i won't even start to describe the horrors with those.

I dont like that type of glass either i carnt remember the name of it but theres two types so i belive.
the stuff that beads to me you just dont no if its going to come up good!! as were the it sheets 9 times out of 10 comes up great.. for me anyway.
my house windows the water beads like mad but seems to come up ok once dried.

Yes there are two types of Glass above is spot on do not worry both dry in the end but on the horrible type I trad bottoms for sure even if I have pure watered it as I thinks it looks better left without water all over the place
