Title: Why is it
Post by: Peter Blackburn on April 21, 2008, 04:23:33 pm
A man with an old tatty, leaky van has a public perception that that he owns the business.

A man with a clean new van has the public perception that he is part of a franchise or a worker of a company.

My blood boils every time I'm asked if I'm part of a franchise!

I get asked it all the time, and must admit I like it, as I ask them why they think Im a franchise, and always get the reply back...."Because you are so professional"

Take it as a compliment, it means you are professional in your approach, charge what they consider to be the going rate and usually means that they are going to give you the job... if they weren't they wouldn't bother engaging you in conversation.

I get asked this a lot and take great pride in telling them that I am not and that means that I can keep my prices at a sensible level and can keep up with the latest and greatest chemicals and methods without having to ask permission first.

I always get an approving nod at these statements.

Sounds like a good answer Andy.

Must admit, up to now I have been saying ....... "I work for myself and by myself, if I do a good job I take the praise, if I do a bad job I get the grumbles..but I dont get the grumbles"

Might change over to Andys... I like that... I can keep the price sensible and try different cleaning techniques without having to ask someone.

It's a good starting point to tell them all about yourself and sell a carpet clean etc

Shaun

I usually get asked "discount for cash" ;D
