Hi, I have a DFS leather chair, when it was delivered it had a scuff on the arm, they sent a guy out and he sorted it and finished off by spraying lacquer over the repaired area.
Now when you put pressure on the arm it marks up with a white sheen where it's been leaned on. I have used the protection cream cloths that came with the chair which seems to work but I am still getting a slight white mark when the leather is pressed in.
Is there some product I can use to sort it out or will I have to get them back ??
Hope someone can help.
Regards

Adam, Shame Paul Moss not about but my advice would be to get them to repair it to your satisfaction ....... that is your right and you earned it when you paid for the item.
Any remedy you try will cost money and if not successful, the problem then becomes yours :o

This sort of 'bloom' is often caused by the finish not adhering properly to the leather. It is similar to the bloom you get on wood.
I would try and get it fixed properly by DFS
Protection cream will not do any damage at all but will not solve the problem.
Hope this helps

cheers guys,
will get back to DFS and get them out again.

And you accept it in that condition ::), refund or a new chair (don’t give back till the new one arrives) ;D

Adam this happens if the spray gun has been sprayed too near the leather especially with matt or satin finishes. It happens a lot with aerosol s and inpartcular spray cans , for that reason a spray gun helps stop this with the correct finish.

Hi Paul,
yea the guy used an aerosol spray to coat the leather. They are coming round tomorrow afternoon to look at it. In your experience, what would be the best course of action ? fore warned is fore armed so to speak.
Should I let them try and put it right or ask for another chair.
Regards and thanks for all your replies.

Surely they have tried once and failed. Ask for a new chair!

If the repair was done adequately but the finish was applied not to liking :o that would be another/different repair so I'd have thought that the new repair could be done and everyone would be happy and maybe this could be a better stronger finish than in the factory.

If he is competent then he should be able to refinish it to your satisfaction. I would let him do it. If it is still the same then ask for a replacement or cash back. Also take some before and after pics.
If finished correctly you should not get a sheen.

It's the hasstle of waiting 6 weeks for another chair when if they fix the problem is is over with and everyone is happy.
I will let you all know what happens tomorrow.

Ok, for you guys following my chair problem.
The guy came out and was surprised at the state of the arm and thought that the lacquer was cold when it was applied and didn't adhere properly as was stated on here. He cleaned the leather and reapplied the lacquer and used a heat gun to dry it off and also did the other arm to match in. All looks fine at the moment but he did say if it did it again they would replace the chair.
Thanks for your replies guys ;) ;)
