Title: low pump pressure :'-(
Post by: Paul Redden Countryfresh on January 03, 2005, 04:44:52 pm
HI Guys, Can anyone help? I have an induction shurflo pump 140 PSI poppet and spring, from ashbys about 18 months old, the flow/pressure has dropped off considerably and it wouldn't prime. I have checked the obvious things, like cleaning the wand filter/jets and I have re-newed the flow control.  Roger at the workshop said it sounds like it needs a new diaphram. All they had was the 100 PSI kit.  So I replaced the diaphram and used my original springs.  It primed better, but the flow was still weak.  Any ideas? Thanks, Paul.

Paul,

On this pump it is likely that the poppel valves are not seating correctly. I'm surprised that Roger did not suggest the overhaul kit which contains valves and seats, which take seconds to replace if you have the pump stripped for diaphragm replacement.

Paul,
When I used portables, sometrimes when the pressure went weak, to get a while longer out of the pump and to improve pressure - I doubled up on the diaphram. In other words I added another old diaphram - always worked, but when the pressure dropped again, I replaced the whole pump head.
Dave.
