Title: Opinions on hardfloor courses.

I want to go on a hardfloor course.  Prochem has a one day course in January.  Anyone been on it and how useful was it ie. floor types covered, problem solving, demos of stipping, polishing etc.

Any other course providers out there?

I know Premiere Products do Hard Floor courses. You'll find them in the usual trade mags.

Good as they are most are general, but it’s a base to start, knowing how to use a side to side is important!

Have to admit I learnt the hard way or was it the easy way hands on. Stripping good quality stripper slow machine max 200rpm I have used a 400 with a skirt wet vac up waist, neutralise floor (white vinegar) vac up, apply polish leaving 3 to 6” appox gap a round edges until final coat, each coat should be 90 degrees to the subsequence coats applied (make sure of your exit point).

Buffing In some cases the floor may be uneven, I call it bubbling where it has come away from floor causing a high point, which you may scalp leaving a black mark, not a problem green pad.

The list is endless but you only lean from trial and error

I attended this course last year.

As courses go it's ok to get a broad idea of vinyls wood etc, but did not give me enough info on stone such as limestone, yorkstone, Amtico vinyle etc.

I found that this course gave me a little more confidence but like most jobs it's experience that counts.

I would personally stay away from wood floors as these are best left to the guys that specialise.

Best course,products and advise for wood flooring is provided by Bonakemi, imo.
