Title: PETROL Vs DIESEL
Post by: macmac on April 14, 2008, 10:36:15 pm
My local station today

diesel = 121.9p

petrol = 108.9p

If this trend continues the next van i get will be petrol without a doubt (if possible, now they've all been converted onto diesel engines). At this rate we could see a reverse of trend where the petrol engine is the one sought after & commanding a higher re-sale price!
All things considered, you would have to do some serious mileage in a diesel just to break even with such a difference in fuel price.

Diesel is £1.21 here also.

And they can get away with it a few years ago when it went up to about 79p the country nearly ground to a halt with people protesting about the prices.

But the price still rockets up.

119p here, although it could be cheaper in some of the other garages, I only use the one closest to me - lifes a dog of the female variety.

diesel should cost 50p a litre, max.

thanks

my manifesto will be available online from tomorrow afternoon.

it simply states

"don't rob the working man"

I was also going to bring back smoking in the pubs - can't handle the smoke?  get out of the pub!"  or at least allow pubs to have a smoking room.

and

bring the price of a pint back to a reasonable price, £1 sounds about right.

anything else missing?

Tony

I thought diesel gave about 30% more mileage so it would have to climb a lot higher in relation to petrol before it became viable.  I would only consider it if going into London and would use LPG - to avoid congestion charge.

Did you read about the bloke who made a motor bike to run on air ?

Can't wait to get a van that runs on air too.

The price of petrol and diesal will soon drop.

if you wanted to do something about it then you would as there are alternatives to petrol out there but no people choose to moan and do nothing,

LPG is 52p litre near where i live, buy a van which runs on LPG and stop moaning about the price of fuel
