Hi all
Some of you may recall some time ago i told you about a company offering advertising in books for schools
The conversation went as follows:
Hi Rich how are you
it's jenny from taylor tanner publications
the advertising for the book that you sponsored is now being distributed as we previously agreed, i have sent you out a form today for you to confirm which 2 school you would like the books to be distributed too and so on.
Basically the conversation went on to say that i couldn't remembering agreeing to it and many phone calls later and threats of court action for £250 that they were trying to con out of me, i eventually told them to p*ss off and take me to court and heard nothing from them.
Until recently
I had a phone call from the child protection agency who are looking for sponsors to sponsor books for children in need, turns out it's the same effin company, when i asked her if they were from the same company that tried to stitch me up last year she hung up, the next day i was contacted by a gentleman from crown prosecution service offering the same advertising in books, once again i mentioned are they the company above and the phone was put down on me.
so be aware folks of false advertising

i had a police community magazine call last week wanting to know if i wanted to advertise for £175 in there magazine! not sure if it was genuine or not- we do have a police mag around here so who knows .number was unknown though on mobile screen.

Any calls you get like this, police, ambulance, fire brigade, any emergency service....charities etc, put the phone down straight away!!
I used to work in the industry, none of the companies are legit.
I know a lot of the owners, 1 has a 355 maranello, another has a 911, another has a house where the drive is that long its got a little chef down it!!
I could tell you some stories about these, but i like my knees!!
If you advertise with one, you are a sales lead for the others, you will get calls for literally years!
Be warned!

I had loads of these last year, and they really bothered me, children's agencies and such like. I was naive and signed up to the police safeguard one when I first started up, cost me £100 and the publication wasn't printed. I had to threaten calling the police at one point they were sooooo rude!
Through much harrassment, I now pay BT £4 a month to stop any anonymous callers getting through to my number.
Also if you have a listing in yell.com. They sell your details onto these comanies. I phoned yell and asked them to remove me from their database, which they did.
so not sure which one of the above did the trick but I don't get bothered anymore.

I was contacted by these guys earlier in the year. It's all documented at this thread (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=48987.0).
Beware!

OOOOOOH Yeas!!!!!
My caller tried to get me to give a pass word regarding a web order some months ago. I said I did'nt have a clue what she was taliking about , and she said is looked like a birth date so I gave her a false one (not mine) . She then said a collegue would call back later to confirm the layout.... still no clue.
the second caller said I had ageed to an order for £360 last December and that I had given a pass word and it had been recorded so the order stood. This second call was about 20 mins after the first and I am supposed to think I actually ordered something months ago and let them use this birth date as proof.
I congratulated them on a really stupid con-job, told them I had also recorded the call too and invited them to take the matter further...... no re-call of course.
