Do you send out newsletters to your customers!
I have been thinking of doing this
Also what kind of things do you put in your newsletters?
Do these actually get you 'add on' business i.e. gutter work etc
Does anyone have one I could have a look to get ideas
PS How about - Recommend us to a new customer and your next clean is free

I've been thinking about doing this. Things to go in might be:
* cleaning tips - what cleaning products are available for what jobs
* cleaning tips - how to clean skirting board/internal doors etc
* painting tips - best types of paint to use on wooden window frames etc
* history of pure water cleaning
and here's one that helps everyone ...
* list of other "partners" in your area - maid services/carpet cleaners etc. You recommend them for free - and ask them to do the same for you. Suggest to them that they produce a newsletter as well and do the same. That looks like a lot of extra publicity and goodwill for a lot of tradespeople and a lot cheaper than ads in the local paper.
Plus, of course, information about yourself and the excellent services you can provide. Are you a family business, long established, a new and exciting start-up?
If you have cleaned some famous local buildings, the snake enclosure at your local zoo or the local scout hut, that's worthy of inclusion.
A simple A4 folded into an A5 booklet could be enough to generate a lot of goodwill and maybe a few more customers.

That is sound advice! we do some famous local buildings and have some photos on file! think I will keep this a section issue in the newsletter as we have done many local famous building
All I need is a template, to get me going :-\

I would give the bit about next clean free if you recommend me to a new customer out of your newsletter!! You will regret it!!! If they like you they will recommend you anyway!! ;)

Would not go down the free clean idea and would state that any recommendations should be within a certain radius (your cleaning area)
If you are advertising other services that you provide, why not give a 10% discount off one of those for a recommendation then you have lost nothing! :)
We have sent out newsletters in the past and yes they have brought in new business from add ons, but last year was too manic to issue one and no-one has mentioned that we did not do it! For advertising add ons why not just put out leaflets saying that we also provide these services etc etc. You could design a leaflet to say discounts available on the services listed below, for recommendations against our window cleaning services. etc etc :)
