Hi all carpet cleaners,
As this debate is likely to start again soon ,I thought it would be interesting to see what proportion of CC's are members.
Cheers,

15 yrs solo and never been asked :o

Absolutely. Its worth £1000s to me.
Got a job today. Client got my details from the NCCA website.
The NCCA will do very little for you (although that seems to be changing) but with effective marketing you can make it work very well in your favour.

Hi,
I have been a member for two years now, its good to know you have the suport of the NCCA behind. I also get work from being a member to.

Like everything else you will only get something back if you put something in!
-
I'd agree with Trevor that you have to put in to get something back, and my own experiences support this many times over, and I'm not talking only about financial gains.
But there are a fewgreat jobs that come directly from membership. Last month I had an email enquiry via the NCCA website. A property company in Stony Stratford wanted an "Approximation" of costs for a 3 bedroom flat in my area (about 4 miles away). Experience tells me that this could be more than grubby (it was!). Estimate at my normal residential rate. Few days later I receive an order and did the work in mid December with instructions that the price was in the ballpark, but appreciated that it may cost a little more. My regular charge came out £233 and it was half days work, £7 below estimate. Payment was prompt as per agreement with a very nice complimentary letter from the client. This one job alone has paid a years membership, so everything else I receive is a bonus.
A newbie who I met at the NCCA Show's Dinner was due to shadow me that day, but was unable to make it (hows the tummy bug now Brock?) so there's another great colleague I've met via the NCCA.
My life is certainly richer because of my NCCA membership and involvement and, as a bonus, it is self financing for me.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Carpex was a great success I wonder how many Carpet Cleaners were members of the NCCA
-
Just done a search which will need to be verified Of a local Carpet Cleaner advertising in Homebase who claims NCCA membership name did not come up in find a cleaner.
Will have to dig deeper.

As you are probably aware Ian, the NCCA will vigourously pursue any illegal use of their name or logo. In a strange way, it is obviously very complimentary to the association that people should value the merits and priviledges of membership. Unfortunately, they are not inclined to earn and subscribe towards these benefits, leaving us genuine members to bare the cost. What you have observed and done is something that I, and others, do on a regular basis. I would suggest a phone call or email to the office who will then take the appropriate action. If the advert is from a genuine member, then obviously there has been a delay or error in the administration department, so appropriate steps can then be taken.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,
I was planning to do that. I just found the leaflet while I was clearing away for Christmas and this post lead me to NCCA site. but I only tried out one type of search.
As a prospective member still differing about which route to enter
I was a little disturbed that only one name came up when I know there are other members within in 15 miles of the area which I was searching.

Hi Guys ,
So 40% are in,
60% are not.

Hi Guys,
75 votes so far , anyone else please ?
Cheers,

Doug,
The thing about polls is that no matter how many new votes are added, the poll topic is never flagged as "New".
I found this with the "Industry Divisions" poll on another forum
If I re-view and find that a couple of new vote have been cast, then put on a note such as you did earlier this evening, then since the topic is flagged and moved up the list, others notice and participate.
In a couple of days you can delete then re-post you 'reminder' post and the same will occur :D
-
John,
When I first put this up I locked it so it stayed at the top.
However I didn't want to abuse my position so after about 12 days I unlocked it so it could take it's natural course.
It was because of your poll that I thought I'd check progress as was suprised that about 14 people had voted since unlocking.
Cheers,
Doug
