Title: Royal Mail Smart Stamp
Post by: woodman on December 21, 2004, 04:22:10 pm
I don't know if any body else is using this service from Royal Mail but it's bloody marvelous.

I have down loaded it today and opened up an account which costs £4.99 a month subscription. You then add what ever value you want in stamp balance and away you go.

You can mail merge from your address book for bulk mailings and it has envelope templates that you can use with slogans, return address details 1st & 2nd class post options along with air mail and special delivery.

This is all laid out for you and prints it out on your envelopes,it looks very professional and you can also add your own slogan if you have one.

You'll never buy stamps again in the conventional manner and if your are doing a mail marketing campaign this will be an invaluable tool to have cutting time and aggravation from the process.

Have a look www.royalmail.com and go to smart stamp ;)

This didn't work for me.  I signed up when it first came out. The software was very buggy and somehow I lost my £50 sign up fee and another £50 in credit. Although my account was still active the money I paid was just gone.

I managed to print 4 envelopes but I didn't post them for a week. I didn't realise that the stamps expired after 1 day so you have to get down to the post box as soon as you print them.

I've been trying for nearly 9months to get my money back from the PO. I think it's a great idea I'd like to start again with the new software but I'm worried about loosing another load of money. All I get when I email them is an automated response with a promise that it's being delt with. There's no phone number to ring so you can shout.

Hi Alan

I noticed that too I so checked it out first and they informed me that it will be changing in the near future, didn't know when though.

Most post that I send will go that day or the day after so not a problem but if you are late and don't use it you just go in to your account and get it credited back on to your balance.

I think it's something that could work for you though especially if you are doing mailings,as you know you have to get them posted by a certain date.
