Title: Rugs for CCDO
Post by: liahona on March 30, 2008, 11:27:49 am
Well with a week to go I havent heard of anyone bringing a rug or rugs to clean.

Kind of difficult to explain and or show how it is done with out a textile to clean.

If anyone is bringing a rug(s) then please advise on here.

I can maybe bring 1 or 2 but as they dont take very long to do I would rather clean more rugs than the same ones over and over again.

Also, if you have some carpet pieces you want to bring along to be butchered and then re-weaved or re-tufted then please do so.

I will bring some with me too but better to be faced with a real situation as opposed to knowing what I will have to show you.  That is of course if there is time to do the re-weaving and tufting.

If any one did want a small Afghan or Persion you need to let me know a bit quick as I will need to get them this week.  For £20 or £30 respectively you will have something to practice on and also a nice little show piece to show your customer.   If you re-weave in a couple of places different colours you can use it as a selling tool to a client needing just those services.  Its easier to show a client as opposed to trying to explain what it is that you do.

Best, Dave.

P. S.  John Kelly, give me a ring as I cant get any of your numbers to work.  But I did get your message about the boiler and I will bring it with me.

Hi Pete,

Ebbsfleet was quite interesting and I managed to pick up my tickets, Bluewater was dead boring, as soon as I walked in I felt depressed.

Cheers

Jason, thankyou.  What type of rug is it.  Not that it matters that much as long as it is an Oriental.

I am still hoping others will bring some along too.  Anyway, anymore for anymore.  I will pick up the rugs on Thursday for those who wanted them.

So if anyone elses wants one or two then please let me know.

Best, Dave.

Del,  Afghan or Persian?  I will bring a couple extra anyway just in case but if you know which one then let me know.

They are a great sales tool, they get me a lot of work and I am sure they would to anyone that uses them as such too.

Best, Dave.

emailed a client with loads of rugs the other day-no response

rang her up this morning and I said did you get my email?- oh yes no it's ok don't need any rugs cleaning.

Did you read the bit about it's for a course and we would do them for free?

No. Well, er,  I may have one. No hang on I've got 3 here you can do?  ::)

She runs a guest house and has them on traffic lanes.

Dave

Picked up the 3 orientals and are as described. Got two other small knotted ones but are a bit cheapo.

I also picked up the white one. It's knotted but has cotton as part of the design weaved through it but not specifically part of the construction if that makes sense. I'll bring it along anyway.

Mike and anyone else bringing rugs.  Thanks for one as it saves me having to bring some of my own to do and I wont be home till the Wednesday.

Secondly, although I and the weather will do our best to dry the rugs during the day you will need to be prepared to take back with you a wet rug that wil need to be dried the next day.

I am sure between everyone going there will be one or two air movers that can be used to speed up the drying.

I have lots of bits of carpets that can be taken home to practice re-weaving on too.  The samples for the day are very easy to work on but the ones you can take home are quite a headache to re-weave.

I have a spare Afghan and a spare Persian if anyone else needs one that hasnt asked.  Actually there will be 2 of one and 1 of the other as Del, hasnt said which one he wanted.

Dont spend all your cash on the Sunday as I will need paying on the Monday.

And I dont drink so cant be bribed.

The Afghans are 1 foot 6 inches x 2 feet 4 inches.

Persians are 1 foot 3 inches x 1 foot 9 inches.  Smaller but of course a much higher quality rug.

See some of you tomorrow and the others on Monday, best, Dave.

Yes, would be nice if we have plenty of air movers on the day.

Drying six rugs in my house could be problematic.

Dave if it's snowing/raining is there somewhere we can get them under cover after cleaning?
