What type of battery is it
Can you not fit some form of recharging unit in the vehicle

its a large 120 amp battery , which is currently been charge when van engine is running

there is certainly enough power in the battery, but how long has the battery been installed in the van, reason I ask is my systen has a volt meter permanantly attached in the cab to show me whats left in the battery , when it was 1st installed at standing there was 13v in the battery (when not being used) now it is reading 12.4v at standing, the battery has been in situ for nearly 2yrs (with a SCR) mine is a 85ah btw so I guess over time they will loose some performance

Unless your doing a good few miles in your van? then the recharge its getting from a split charge relay is far to low, take it out as often as possible and bench charge it.

Since fitting vari-stream controllers to my van's system, battery life has been much improved [I use the van's factory fitted battery, nothing else]

I know it's not ideal but on a day when I'm covering few miles, I sometimes have the engine running while I'm working. Best to do it off road to keep it legal and also to lock cab with a spare key.
