Post by: L.J.Thorpe on March 26, 2008, 07:58:29 pm
daveshaw asked about removing decals on "chat" and i asked on same thread about getting rid of the "shadow"left in the paint after the vinyls gone.Nat mentioned g3 cutting compound, anyone else got any ideas ??? and if nats still online is this stuff readily available or is it specialised stuff?

g3 is excellent stuff, but be carefull with it if using a machine, use plenty of water. g3 is used by most car bodyshops.

T Cut is OK isn't it? Not as fast but just as good.

maybe thats the problem anyway thanks for help
i will get some new and try that first
then try the g3 if no joy
i think the problem is it has had a "skim" re spray at some point after vinyl came off

scudo and its red

red is the worst colour, as the paint changes colour really quick

that might be your problem, the paint might have changed colour

get some G3 rubbing compound, it a little courser than T cut, try and borrow a electric mop to polish it ( watch you dont leave it on for too long though, it'll take the paint off )

I've had a few vans re-signed.  All of them still had "shadow" on them, but because the new signage was bright and eyecatching, the shadow didn't show up.  If people are noticing the shadow, then there's something wrong with the new signage ::)
