Title: Battery and Charger
Post by: p1w1 on March 26, 2008, 04:49:09 pm
Hi all,
Can anyone help I need to replace my battery that i use that fits in my omnitrolly i currently use a gel 12v 36ah one and i want to replace it with something that will last a bit longer i have looked at old post but it only seems to deal with batteries for Van systems basically does anyone use a battery that is bigger say 85ah plus(gel) that will still fit in the trolly and where can i get one plus the reason my batteries don't last as long as they should because i use a cheap charger and over cook them i think. i have seen posts about the halfords intellegent charger had a look but can only see halfords fully automatic battery charger is it the same thing.
i would be very greatfull for any help or ideas.
Paul

Hi,
Thanks for the reply's my local lidl had sold out of those chargers i do like the sound of the halfords one as i am always forgetting to turn mine off when charging my battery hence why my batteries dont last that long. I have put a link but not sure if i have done it correctly.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_210939_langId_-1_categoryId_31335

Thanks again,
Paul

Just checked the link and it works fine.

The charger on there is the one I have, connect your battery for a charge and you could go on holiday and leave it charging, once your battery is fully charged it switches to maintenance mode, this means it keeps toped up, so when you need it, its fully charged and not over cooked.

I have this charger too, and works great. I'd also like some battery advice. I want to make myself a trolley with 25 ltr barrell, nothing fancy just for the odd job, would this do ?

the sureflow backpack pump at top of page and the spare backpack battery directly below it, will I be able to use my existing charger to recharge it? anyone know?
Thanks
Simon

I havent mate my main concern is it fitting in the front of the omnitrolly trolly the higher the ah of the battery the bigger the battery will be i was just wondering if someone had already done something like this a 35ah battery fits fine just wondered how big i can go before it will not fit..... hope that makes sence. I suppose i could just ring omnipole up and they would tell me just wondered if someone may have the answer already

Cheers

Sorry your link doesn't work?
If its the same type of battery as you have in your backpack now then your existing charger must be switched to gel type first, then yes it will be fine to use your charger

Take the measurement of your battery box/tray, go into a battery shop or Halfords and measure the size of batteries on sale, that would be a sure way of getting an accurate answer

mine still have them instock

by all account after they have been instore for 10 days they knock a few quid off to shift them, so they should be coming down in price
