Title: Canvassing at Easter
Post by: Dale Smith on March 20, 2008, 06:42:51 pm
All,
Thinking seriously of hitting the canvassing trial during Easter, are any of you doing the same?
Or is it a bad idea?

Really Stuart?
Perhaps I should aim towards this from now on...... and garages, rabbit hutches & of course dog kennels...  ;D ;D ;) ;)
As long as they have windows obviously...... or it would be silly.... ;)

Saturday is fine as it's a working day, but I reckon canvassing Friday, Sunday or Monday would be frowned down upon. Also if you're targeting houses you really want to do and are shooed away it'd be tricky to try at a later date.

Have a nice weekend off...the weather is gonna be poxy anyway.

Happy Easter.

Yup, weather is gonna sux0r.  Might put some leaflets about throught the weekend, but canvassing will be done saturday and monday (monday should be ok, and as a bank holiday should catch most people in too)

If your doing that well canvassing perhaps you'd be better doing it for a living.

You can do the same mate , I am just starting out really , but this forum has given me some real confidence to get more work .      What you have to remember is that the ones on here saying " dont go out at easter " are the ones who allready have established business .          If you need more work you will find more people in now so go for it  ;D

What I am finding at the moment , is you have to keep your momentum going !  Its hard work where you find no interst , but you have to carry on and eventually you do find areas where they need your service .      It is a great feeling when you pick up up new work  ;D

Horrible when you don't  ;D It's nice when people ask for your sevices though and you feel in the driving seat and quote a higher price.
I find doorknocking a bit like begging.

True !    Found that using the introduction   "  I am expanding my window cleaning services in the area " works well , while handing them a posh flyer .

Agree with Simon

Saturday is fine, in fact I have found it my most productive day for canvassing in the past.

As for the rest of the holiday.....

You're off for easter, last thing you want is some bloody canvasser knocking at your door. :D ;)

It's a holiday time mate. ???

That means you forget about work and spend time with your family and friends and enjoy yourself.

I'll be out tomorrow, (Saturday) because I've got a list of enquiries that came in during the week, and if I don't get out and do them, they'll "go cold".

If I leave it too long to follow up, I get embarrassed because it looks as though I've only called on them as an afterthought.

Ian

I try to get the customer to accept the first clean "blind" then if they are happy with the price we just carry on if not pay me for the first clean and call it a day.

So far everyone has accepted with no cancellations.

Dave
