I am thinking about signing up to New Approach in conjunction with Google. Its £99 plus VAT for the first month for 5 key phrases and thereafter its £20 plus VAT per key phrase with a guaranteed 1st page listing. No contract - just a rolling monthly contract. Anyone have experience?

I'd be really careful if I were you. In my experience not that many people buy carpet cleaning services via the internet and those that do tend to be price shoppers and time wasters. You would probably be better off with Yell.com but even that struggles to recoup its costs.

Not buy carpet cleaners via the internet? ???
Our sites out perform any other advertising in this area....by a country mile.

Thanks for your reply. I already subscribe to Yell.com and YP, but everyone is telling me that approximately 50% of people Google trade searches.
-
Well I've heard of people doing well thru websites but it is obviously something that works in some areas and not in others, hence my note of caution.

It would be interesting to find out how you go on with it, keep us posted.
Have you only just signed up or have you been on long enough to know whether or not you are getting any leads?
Simon
Spencer,
So how many leads a month do you get and how are they generated, Google, Yell in other words how do you drive people towards your website?
Simon
-
I agree Simon but the internet is the way forward but us in the north are 12 months behind, perhaps it's the busy life style of souterers as they mainly work much longer hours because of the cost of living so with a quick type of the keyboard and you have umpteen CC at your finger tips and all in the space of your coffee break.

How slow do you think our computers are down south, and how fast do you reckon we drink our coffee?
The quality of your site must surely be the prime mover as to quantity & quality of response
-
it's not the computer hat buys the cleaningit's the people, you can't get non computer literate people to buy from any website they go for more of a physical presence.

Simon,
Natural listings and not sponsored listings, try searching carpet cleaning East Sussex, Sussex, Brighton, Eastbourne, Hove etc.
Work is required to get yourself up in the listings, if you have a site that is nowhere, then no one will look at it, sponsored listings are less successful as people know that a company can be on the first page one day and gone the next.

I have heard Shaun is 'razor sharp' on the net, particularly with his link machine software. ::)

Spencer,
Sponsored listings work really well but my web guy is tops and gets me on free listing first page where i need to be.
It goes well with the Adwords listing and does work. Its what you put on that Adwords listing that makes the difference and gets people to look at it,
Adwords works and does really well, always better than free listing but you do get a few that find you from the Free's.
Where do you get your idea's that Adwords does not work.
-
Spencer,
Tried it, well done, you're at the top.
So how many leads does this generate per month and how much does it cost and how do you get to the top of the listing?
Simon
-
Adwords do work but something like 60-80% of people go for natural listings.
-
Mark,
How do you know that?

I was going to ask the same question?

Obviously its different for every phrase but its about in line with my site.
-
Mark,
So which way do you use, free or paid.
If paid, how much do you send per month?
Sorry, I don't know much about this Google Ad thing so forgive the rather basic questioning.
Simon
-
Both, I do paid and like Spencer I make sure I feature at the top of 20-50 key phrases for naturals.
Adwords are funny, your proberly get 10 different answers for monthly spend, you decide how much to pay by capping it or increasing the click value of the ad to get it nearer the top. Worth playing with though and after a while you can find a happy medium of spend.
But it dont end there, once you got em on your site you need them to enquire.
I will waffling on about this and other things at the ccdo.

I'll look forward to your wafflings Mark :)
Simon, still a few places spare if you want to come along ;)

So does that mean that you'll be giving away trade secrets ?

Hi Arthur,
There'll be lots to learn on the day :)
I'm sure Marks input will be invaluable to most ;)

Hi Jason, i've no doubt it'll be a great day mate, but as my main business is general cleaning most of it wouldn't be much benefit to me and with carpex/windex being next week i can't do both, but if i thought Mark was going to uncover the deep dark secrets of the www then i'd be tempted.
Anyway i hope you all have a good couple of days and i'll look forward to reading all the posts.

Hi Arthur,
Most of the events will be aimed at carpet & upholstery & leather cleaners. This will hopefully be the first of many ccdo events and fingers crossed we can bridge the gap and organise a day around general cleaning, window cleaning and carpet / upholstery cleaning in the future.
Thanks for your kind words, shame you cant be there but hopefully the day will go well and there will be some more to look forward to in the future.
All the best,
Jason.

How do you access it - it asks for a subscription.
-
Appleton,
I focus on Natural listings and also use adwords.
S

Also free listings on a Directory site are not the same as a Natural listing on Google, to answer your question Simon, without going into details I will have to say a lot.
