Anyone use one of these? Freedom 200gpd RO
Just set one up and have the water in at 133 out at 2 tds which is fine, but I'll be waiting till xmas for a full tank. Does it really take so long to produce water with these.
Took around 1 hr to make about 3 ltrs
I got the system a couple of months ago from someone who packed in, he only used it for about 2 months so all the filters etc should be ok.
I don't have a water pressure gauge on at the moment but i wouldn't think there is too much problem with the pressure.
Anyone shed any light on this
Thanks
Wayne

It should be producing 10x that much!
if your pressure is below 60 PSI output decreases rapidly,.. but even at 40 PSI you should produce more.
-
I'd be surprised if my water pressure is less than 40psi I'll only know when i get a pressure gauge on it. but like you say it seems like its operating at 10psi at the moment.
I have back flushed the unit but just curious if the membranes are knackered through having water left in them for 3 months ???
-
Im pretty sure its pressure problem i had that with my filters when i changed over 3 years ago.
Make sure you have it connected to main supply and not to a water pipe on the connected to the storage tank for the bathroom/s and toilet supply.
If its connected to a mains supply you need a pump.

The pre-filters could be blocked,...

I thought that I had a problem with pressure so I got a booster pump to sort it out, unfortunatley it didn't make any difference, it turned out the membranes were knackered,so if anyone needs a booster pump I have one for sale, cheers Dave

Yep it's connected to the main supply managed to make it the first connection off the water line.
I'll open it all up tomorrow and have a peak inside
Now much Dave (Just incase)

I paid about 75 quid for it but will take 50.

I have a purefreedom 300GPD RO and without booster pump it was making 12lit per hour and with booster pump its making around 27 29 lit per hour and its done that since day once of use which is around 5 6 weeks. crap rly

I had pressue problems and a few recommended the clarkes 240 e from machine mart. about £210 but sorted problems out and is supposedly very reliable and it's quiet.
-
I can see this ending up in the bin and getting a proper RO system or sticking with DI only.
£210 for a pump :o I'll have yours dave if I need one

Just a thought here.. if it's been left standing with water in it for 3 months it may have frozen solid at some time. The prefilters will definately need replacing but I really suspect low water pressure.
I have a Freedom 300 GPD and it's fine for me. Another thing is during the winter when the water temperature is low you get a lot less production from any RO. My output is down by about a third at least compared to summer.

I feel your pain!!
I used the same RO(brand new) for x 8 wks. it was taking 10 hrs to get 250 ltr out of it with pressure at 60 psi. the water was 0 tds but I was using more than it would produce & i could not justify the 1000`s ltrs being pumped down the drain!
I`ve replaced it with a Merlin & not looked back!
Good luck

That looks like the one Ive got , got mine fron WCW though.
-
Deano, how was the RO connected to the mains? mine has adpt for std hose into RO was it the same on yours? Would this make a difference in pressure instead of using 1/4inch tube into RO
Also did you have a Pressure gauge fitted if so, how did you fit it. ???
Had a look inside today and cant find any signs of damage or wear, but then again not sure how things should look.

Hi Wayne
the RO was connected to the mains with std hose with a pressure control guage fitted to the hose just before the system!
I did improve the flow of pure water (a very little) by swapping the pre-filters around & keeping the RO warm. But it was still painfully slow with horiffic amounts of waste!
It now sits in the shed & i use a Merlin that will pay for its self with what i save in waste water.

Connected a pressure gauge today and only 26psi :( looks like a pump is needed.
davidpitts looks like you have a buyer ;D

Thanks for the replies guy's Up and running now with pump. 80psi in and 30ltr ph TDS 000 :)
The filters have been in since last July but with very little use. The advice is to change the pre-filters @ 3 months or so regardless of the amount of water made so will also get a set of new filters.
I have a spare 10" housing that originally had resin in it but as I'm polishing it in the van with DI. Is there another pre-filter I could use to make use of this 10" Housing and improve performance or are these three adequate?
Currently have
1 x 10" Sediment
1 x 10" Carbon Bloc
1 X 10" GAC
