Title: Uneven Ground
Post by: Simon_Gallagher on March 17, 2008, 05:27:53 pm: Is there anything on the market that i could attatch to my ladder. Work in an area full of steep slopes, and houses are all almost on uneven grounds, not allowing my ladder to sit right at the bottom (was even thinking about getting some paving slabs to cart around). Pretty new to the game so any info would be appreciated.,... or if anyone knows of any ways of securing the ladder???

Both are good bits of kit. The ladder mats will safely build up one side of the foot of a ladder to make it level and the Rojak will help prevent a ladder from slipping backwards; you can even use them together for some really dodgy windows.

Also - safety aside - one of my best areas is an area on the side of a hill; steps everywhere; high windows; uneven ground; and when I first started cleaning in this area I took on a whole load of new work really quickly; because no other window cleaner wanted it. I stuck with it; using ladders; 'cos I had bills to pay, but now I'm 'semi WFP', it's still tough work, but I can charge good money for it and I dominate the area.

Once I went WFP; (backpack; you couldn't do this work with a van-mount); it turned from a really tough area to a really lucrative place to work.

Make sure you're not 'undercharging'; price them WELL; other window cleaners will no doubt avoid the area you're working in! That's some good advice.

It works well, its annoying carrying it around, but works well, i have had my ladder at around a 25 degree angle with this and up pretty high and no slipping. I hate jobs where the ground is uneven, this is handy but not allways great, because when you adjust the sideways angle its not allways where you want it, you can adjust the feet but it gets quite tedious. I have seen a half circle adaption for sale that bolts to the end of the ladder and can rotate to any sideways angle you need on its two feet. Local tool shop.

I have an adaption that you accomodate and secure your ladders into. It can be adjusted to any angle very quickly (seconds) and easily, up to 45 degrees with a simple, safety, locking lever on the base of this adaption. It has round, swivel, suction cup feet and is in very good condition, hardly used. Anybody want it, for £50 + postage (bargain, never seen another one from any of the ladder specialist shops in the Uk as it's a German make). One day I'll get around to selling all my surplus gear on ebay.
