Title: sl2 in action
Post by: daniel b on March 16, 2008, 04:10:52 pm
Thought i would post some pics of this pole and i must say what a great pole we had two full days of using it at 60ft and came hme each day with noachin arms and shoulders lol i know for a fact if we were using some of are other 60ft poles it would have been a lt harder, i was a bit unsu about the brush but it doe a great job although im not sure how long it would last on this type of work.

Now that is where the supalite comes into its own.

I would have put a 16 in brush on for that job though.

Somebody posted a link for a site that enabled you to do it but I post pictures by first hosting them online and copying their address to this site. So in reality you are seeing a picture from another site, it doesnt actually get stored on Cleanitup. I use Picasa and Flickr

Dave if you put a big heavy 16inch brush on it then it ruins the point/fun out of using a light pole, a 16inch vikan weighs nearly 1kg if not more, The sl2 only weighs 1.8kg at 50ft. i agree a 16 inch brush would be better, but no light alternative exists at this moment, except the Tucker, which still is a little heavy, Luke

I know what your saying, but on that job looks like sweeping your backyard with a tooth brush.

Wow. That's some job, Daniel.

No aching arms or back - but what about your neck?

How much glass can you clean, vertically, before having to take a length of pole off - the job must seem never-ending?

Do you ever go inside and inspect your work?

Regards

Mike

On the job picture above I was cleaning 7 in the morning till 7 at night no exaggeration, my dad had to control traffic and he is holding the pole for the picture. I did get an hour break when my dad did the side of part of the building but apart from that I was cleaning 11 hours solid. Biggest working day ever, was wrecked at the end but glad Ive got the sl2, Luke

As regards to the brush I think its a swings and roundabouts thing, yes its only 11-12 inches but you have more stamina because its nice and light. Alex is going to bring out his new brush soon and that will be 12 inches I think but he may make a bigger one, I dont know. The Bentley brush sold with the sl2 isnt ideal but its alright. I will get Alexs new brush and if I dont like it ( which I very much doubt ) I will be going to use Tuckers converted with a thread plate, Luke

Daniel, if you want a bigger brush I reccomend going for the  18 inch Tucker

And gluing/screwing a thread plate onto it from a household broom ( usually the wooden ones ). Be warned the Tucker at that length is no lightweight but its the lightest option for a brush of that length, Luke

unless you do alot of commercial the 18inch is to big same as a trad blade, I used 12 and 18 the 18 seems to slow you doing dont know why but over all thats what I found

To say I loathed the bentley brush is an understatement. I took your advice and fitted a swivel thread plate to a Tucker brush for my supalite pole. Much better, it actually cleans the glass better with less scrubbing effort whilst keeping the weight at the top of the pole light.

Sorry to but in but do you know where I can get a Tucker brush from?  Without having to buy in to the system?

The new brush is 11", mono-filament, single trim and about 240g. We will be looking at 3 more variants soon though, a sill, a large, and a double trim

Tucker (Afd (UK)        Tel: 01256 844046

You have to adapt a gooseneck to fit the brush. Either fit a screw thread plate or use an Ionic's gooseneck on the end of your pole.

Daniel,
To be fair it was here first day, I thought a pic with the CPs in would be interesting, so she used the pole only once I got it up there  :-[ but heres a wall of glass she did do all by herself. I genuienly think the new ultralites technology will open up an equal opportunity to enable ladies to take us on !
