Title: leaflet response
Post by: rs_cleancare on December 15, 2004, 12:54:06 am
just wondering the average response everyone gets for their leaflets. I seem to be very unluky at the moment and only getting 0.1%.

My personal view is that responses will vary as we all put out diffrent style leaflets.

Some TV adverts work better than others.

Mike Halliday has posted his  main leaflet on Cleantalk and the current back page here and gets a consistence response because he is actually having delivered  vast amounts which I doubt if many of us our matching.

also you need to differentate betreen solus & multiple delivery. I have mine delivered as 1 of 3 and get about 02-03%

Have been very fortunate - 2495 leaflets personally delivered - 30 enquiries leading to 25 jobs!

Once delivered 50 - got 4 jobs within 10 days. Had a call this week from leaflet delivered 3 months ago - this will bring jobs to 26 when done in January.

Am in the middle of doing a 500 drop to get some work for Jan.

Hi Rob,

I design and print my own a4 full colour but as i have a lexmark inkjet printer it is pretty costly. I am currently speaking with Tradeprint to buy 10,000. - http://www.trade-print-warehouse.co.uk/leaflet-printing.htm.

Rob- i don,t mention specific prices but list "Honest Pricing " among the bullet points.

I can also echo what Jacko has acheived in terms of response rates.
At the moment I deliver myself, target certain areas. I have a colour A4 2 sided leaflet with most of my prices listed.

I should also point out that I use an old Epson Stylus 800 printer for my leaflets (this thing just keeps going) and at this moment in time I purchase my cartridges from [www.choicestationary.com] 10 black & 10 colour for just £25.
Cost wise including paper works out at about £3 a hundred.

I admit I have not yet tried a main printers such as Tradeprint etc. Maybe sometime in the near future, give it a trial run to see if I can acheive a similar response rates, also like so many of you, I`d like to find a reliable person to deliver more for me.

Nigel.

I would'nt bother looking at my leaflet because its nothing special, the secret is in the delivery and where they are delivered.

It`s not a matter of not being creative, but as a newbie it is interesting to see how you experienced CC`s market your business.

Cheers  :)

Richie,

If you give Tradeprint warehouse a ring, they will send you an information pack.  This contains quite a few examples of CC leaflets.  These will give you an idea of what to put (or not) on yours.

Regards.

Just to update you on my 500 leaflet drop last week (mentioned in my above post).

I have had 3 jobs booked so far from 4 calls. But the 3 jobs are all from the same area delivered on the same evening (from a total of 150). One evening i dropped 200 but have had NO response.

I am hoping as time goes on that i will have more response.

Hi All

Happy and Prosperous N.Y!

To update u on leaflet response: 3400 delivered.
                                                         39 calls
                                                         29 jobs

This is 0.85% conversion rate to jobs as it stands, but with 300 only recently dropped, and 2 surveys to do, i expect this to rise.

I don't know Jacko, but are you cleaning carpets for a £5, because your average job booked in says to me you should put your prices up, if you are not getting price resistance you are missing out on paying your morgage off early!

Are we counting a respose as a telephone call from a leaflet or an actual job.

Jacko are you following up your leaflet with a door knock to achieve such a high response.

Shaun

I do not put prices on my flyers. I do win 9/10 quotes but i am not cheap. Having said that i do get several jobs at £40/£50 - small areas. I am thinking of upping the price on maybe the 1st 12 Sq M. ........ I do have a min charge though.

Ian
No i don't knock doors. I just make sure they are delivered personally and not the same day as the free paper containing various flyers.

regards

When did leaflets go out If they have gone out this month I would suggest its the time of year.

Others will disagree but I find Jan and Feb very bad for leaflets

Does anyone actually get much in the way of feedback from their customers with regard to their own flyers.

I have to say (not trying to brag here) that I have lost count of the amount of comments that I have had. I received a nice comment via email just yesterday.

Here is some of what this nice lady had to say,- Have just picked your flyer up off the mat. ( I live in St Annes Gardens,
Woolston).
Just wanted to tell you that I am impressed.  I used to work in publicity
and am one of those people who can't stand the dreadful spelling and
incorrect use of apostrophes that we see in most flyers and shop notices
etc.   Your flyer was so good and very eye-catching too.
I don't need any cleaning at the moment but I'll certainly keep your flyer
handy for future reference.

Although I never got the job in this case, she certainly helped by giving me all kinds of other usefull advice.

I did notice that like me Jacko has the same level of response rates and also prints out and delivers his own. At the moment I produce a semi-colour double sided A4 size leaflet: Carpet/Upholstery & Patio cleaning on one side and Car valeting and blitz cleaning on the other side. I use power words together with eye catching coulour graphics including the line: EXCELLENT testimonials and references can be provided if required.

The majority of the work I get is for carpets and upholstery.

Can it be that self produced and delivered semi colour flyers pull better than smaller one colour printing trade company flyers.

Just a thought.  I'm sure many of you have tried both types, what are your thoughts, I am still fairly new to this business and no doubt have other forms of advertising to try.

Nigel.

Good stuff Nigel, encouraging for you to get good feedback from the recipients of your flyers.

I have just got a delivery of flyers from Tradeprint only two colour but the same format - it will be interesting to compare the response rates. It is very cheap to order from Tradeprint as opposed to self printing. I have a lexmark and although i use refill cartridges it still works out 5 times the price of Tradeprint flyers!

I do use lots of other marketing tools though, i don't rely soley on flyers.

Hi
I`ve only done one leaflet drop and got no replies.
So all i do now is advertise in the paper. One job will pay for a months ad. The ad runs all the time and the jobs come in. well worth a try.

Mevyn appears to have a very smart operation , sign written van smartly dressed etc.

I believe he hand delivers leaflets himself. Customers will notice van and Mevyn.

I congratulate him on his response rate.

I hope it is true as there is nothing more stomach churning when you are out there doing the best you can and you find someone going through the same process as yourself is consistentley getting better results from their marketing activities.

All I can say is keep the faith ;D ;D ;D

Hi Guys,

I would estimate that delivering leaflets yourself will at least double your response , mainly because of the quality of homes delivered to.

An employee will prefer to deliver to areas of high density , flats , terraced etc because it is quicker.

I have often thought of running a seminar on leaflets and wonder how many might be interested ?

Cheers,

Doug

when I first started ,I looked at all t5he post,s on leaflets and came across mike,s
I then contacted tradeprint who sent me some samples.10.000 full colour a5  for £117
I picked one and had it altered.
my picture in it with a poop and tie on with company logo on the shirt.
every 3rd room cleaned free  plus local discount £5
plus a 15% discount for orders over £65.
100% refund if not happy.
as I do cc p/time at the moment I put out about 300 leaflets every w/end and on avarege I got 2  jobs from each leaflet drops, over time£80 -150 per job from each leaflet drops  over time.
in november I stopped delivering leaflets and I dont advertise any where else and its been a month since any one has phoned due to leaflets
so it looks like it back on the street tommorow

ps
the sample was one of mikes old leaflets so thanks mike 8),
pps you ve just got to keep getting them out
