I cleaned a lounge today where the cat had peed in the corner. the carpet is Man made fiber with a bonded backing.
I rinsed first with fiber and fabric, applied urine neutraliser, agitate and dwell for 20 min, rinse again with fiber & fabric.
NO GOOD, STILL A SMELL.
pulled back the carpet to find it had gone through to the underlay. replaced the affected section af underlay, then spayed a light mist of cleasan, and left to dry.
With all the agitation the room didn't smell to good, customer seemed happy enough but i know i am going to get a call in a day or so to say the smell is still there.
What can i do on the return visit.... IF she calls.........HELP.
Also my machine and hose stink. what can i get rid of the smell with.???

Hi Ian
how you doing. You still doing any cabbing? Cat pee is particularly troublesome. Solubac may be a better option but you could try really soaking wiwth clensan. Are the floorboards affected? If so then they may need replacing as wood is quite absorbent and difficult to treat re odour problems
You should come to CCDO, not too far for you to get to Wolverhampton is it?

Hi you need to spray Chemspec urine contamination treatment above and below carpet, it must contact source to work, one of the few products which is effective on urine.
The floorboards may need painting with an oil based gloss paint to seal odour in.

Put the urine neutrelizer on after the clean and leave it, it can take days to work it breaks down the salts.

This question gets asked loads of times over the years.
There is no definitive answer as all situations are different, animal, bowel contents, volume, carpet type, customer intervention, backing, substraint, etc etc.
Some times it can be treated in one hit with extraction, sometimes extraction and a bacterial deodoriser, sometimes you have to revist and reapply a numbr of times to remedy the problem.

Thanks for the info guys, but it wasn't needed.....fingers crossed.
A lesson learnt i think.!! will give cat urine a wide berth in the future.
Hello Pete... still cabbing, I'm hoping that i can make the switch over in the summer. Not enough customers yet. Catch 22, need more advertising but ain't got the money.
I doubt i can make the ccdo, but will let you know asap if i can.
