got to my first job, it rained, i sat in the van for 30 mins
it eased off a little so i got the pub done
got to next job, it rained again for 45 mins, i came home
i got home, it stopped raining in about 5 mins
i went back out, got to job, did upstairs and it starts to rain
finish that house
get home, still raining
in about 15 mins the sun is out, but its very windy
so tough, im having my 2nd day off
-
The right decision Matt.
Which useless pleb of a weather forecaster said yesterday was the stormy day?
Nothing much at all yesterday, didn't even knock my patio heater over. ::)
Today though... :o
Must have been gusting to 60+.
Way too windy for wfp, it would cause too many spots, and when my customers don't really like it anyway, there's no point giving them ammunition. :-\
Squeegeed a few bungalows, but that was a nightmare too, as it kept blowing back across the glass.
Then my bucket blew over.
I gave up, needless to say... ;D
-
I was the same this morning got to 1st job at about 8.45 did two windows and it started raining.
So finished that house and went home just as i got home it stopped so decided to go back out again.
as soon as i got the the next job it started again and the wind had picked up.
Anyway i waited for it to stop and it did so got that job done and it started again so i thought sod it i will take the rest of the day of i hate day like this.
I got home at 10.15 and its been rain on and off since then.
I hate day when the weather don't know what it want to do.
I would rather have rain or no rain but not both.

Spot on.
When it does dry up I can't be arsed.
I need to crack on with work right from the start, not halfway through the day.
-
Im exactly the same if i can't crack on straight away i just can't manage to really get into it and get much done.
Anyway fixed a trigger on my unger pole today and that works really well going to buy another 4 now for my other pole's.
So i did do some work two jobs and a trigger so not such a wasted day.

Did a full day to day ;D
Wife is happy that I have earned some cash :'( :'(

It shows that we are all just human. Its encouraging to know that its not just me feeling this way on days like these. Needless to say ive been home two days, and they wonder why we charge more than a factory wage to clean their windows!Roll on the fine weather! 8) 8)
-
I'm not one for creating my own stress so Ive decided to just chill. After all what can we do?
I'm sure we will all have time to catch up soon (touch wood ???) I'm going to try 2 gutter cleans tomorrow as the wind wasnt as strong as they predicted today so hopefully they've got it wrong for tomorrow as well.
-
I had a full day today, used my pole at 150 feet in eighty mile an hour winds and it never even flexed! Did sixty houses by three thirty gave them my rain gurantee even though they don't need it and i picked up twelve new customers too. you lot are just slackers and need to get off your lazy backsides - there is work to be done! ::)

i bet you earnt loads aswell :)
-
Well, i had a better day than yesterday, old peoples home first thing but half of them forgot to tick my sheet, they have to pay to have them cleaned but the warden has been off sick for months so nothing gets organised. ::)
If your depressed come and chat to that lot - you'll hang yourself by the afternoon! Came home to dodge the rain then went back out and cleaned in tremendous gusts of wind. The Trad guys still out working off ladders too!
-
We had the same sort of day as Matt..... gave up in the end..... and after getting home still windy but stopped raining ??? :'(
-
Nothing yestarday but today I started at 6 and worked all day. I hate the days where you start late anything past 10:00 and I cant be asked.

I went out this morning after doing nothing this yesterday. Did the morning and was driving back for a bite to eat and a Transit van smacks into the back of me and writes my car off - I'm hacked off as I've got bad whiplash and I've just bought the car and was using it for the first time today >:(
-
Whiplash? that's got to be worth £1500 from his insurance company?

We're a bit like that; but it's not a good attitude when you've got bills to pay!
We could've worked and at least have earnt something, but I've spent yesturday and today tiling the kitchen (or rather prepping the walls to tile), but I'd rather be out working.
I had a window cleaner call round today, who works in most weathers (not Ian Giles our Mod; though he does too), but even he'd given it up as a 'write off'.
That made us feel a bit better; you can feel a bit 'soft' for not working in inclement weather.
-
yesterday got soaked monday is not a good day anyway, today got soaked even more, but still done ok.
as someone has said havbe bills to pay and wages.
should have stayed on holiday for another month :-\

Too windy 9 miles away though Mike!
Didn't fancy leaving houses covered in dirty spots.
Might have done some if I was still on the ladder.

Got away with today, but it's looking bleak for North Wales in the morning. The winds howling now and they reckon we won't get the worst of it till the morning.
-
Well I did four today then it started chucking it down. Didn't matter though as I was on an early finish anyway. My friend was over from Spain and I had already arranged to spend the day with him from lunchtime onwards. One of the things I like about being self-employed.
-
I did some ground floor commercial stuff today,.. but thats about all I could manage. Spent a couple of hours dropping leaflets and quoted a job for next week,.... made a bit of money, but not enough to make up for missing yesterday,.... and tomorrow is looking bad too. >:( :'(
-
I had a day off from work again today.
Kept myself busy fitting a new roof rack, roof platform and door ladder. Finally got some space in the back of my van for a gutter vac. Now all I have to do is make my mind up wether to buy an Omnipole or Ionics guttervac system.
-
. and tomorrow is looking bad too. >:( :'(
sure is....cant say i fancy that much, but they said it would be rough as a bears .... round here today and it was fine,i shall just wait for the morning. Its just gone dead calm here...real creepy calm, and yet 20 mins ago it was lashing down and blowing a gale ???
-
put a coat on and get on with it!!!!!
your running a buisness....... :o

The forecast for monday was so appalling I went to bed expecting a lie in....wasn't that bad at all and got everything done that was on my list, a few squally showers to cope with, but nothing too bad.
Tuesday started ok, but got windier than Monday and some heavy downpours, I gave up about midday, mainly cos of the wind.
However, on the one account (done in wet and windy weather) I did a house as a one off clean (a letting Company (estate agent)) that hadn't been done for a long time, full in and out clean, UPVC windows, half of which had oxidized badly.
Did the outside all WFP and fully expected to need to go around it, or at least some of it again.
When I looked at the glass I had cleaned I could see tiny particles on the glass, or rather in the water still on the glass...not helped with the wind of course.
Was so windy, by the time I'd finished the inside the glass on the outside was dry.
End result?
Much to my surprise they were perfect, well, ok, I did have to go over part of a bay window again, but even on this bay, which was appallingly oxidized - the water was coming off it the colour of milk to begin with - there was no spotting or dried out milky marks.
Sometimes you can do a perfectly good job in adverse conditions, and even on windows that on the best of days you would expect to get problems.
Of course, the reverse also applies, on the best of days you can do a poor job on work you'd expect to come up perfect! :-\
Unlike Squeaks though, if I am working then I'm WFP, if the weather is bad enough to muck up WFP, then it's probably bad enough to muck up trad.
Sometimes you just have to have faith in your ability.
But today out there, at least directly outside in the garden, it is the windiest day of all, unless the conditions ease I really don't know how much I'll get done ???
Which really is a major pain as I have my biggest and best paying day on my round to do :'(
And Tomorrow is a huge one too!
Ahh well...we shall see.....

Blue shys here, only problem is all the trees are bending in half, going to have right fun today
-
Blue skys and some light cloud covering here in North Norfolk. Windy as hell though...buggered if I'm going up my ladders this afternoon! My well being is far more important than £30.
-
i am pottering about today and sorting jobs that need sorting
My arm is still knackered but less than was but do not want anymore trouble if the wind catches my pole as if my ligament goes it will be a longer lay off
I am going out canvessing though
hee hee
