made my own trolley, cost about 200 quid, its a folding sack truck with a surflo pump mounted in a "moulded enclosure" with a varistream on top and a 20ah wheelchair battery under it.I use it with a reel (75 mtrs) and depending on the job it gets used from in the van or wheeled to a strategic point. Its not a perfect set up but it was how i started out and i will still carry it after the van mount goes in later this year,as there are some situations where i can still see it being useful,it will also mean that i have a two man set up option if needed

ahh ;D all mine are fails so are not at full capacity,i have two half decent and 3 "emergency" .The half decent ones last between 8 and 10 hrs the others any thing between 2 and 4 hrs,all together i have spent a huge 25 quid on batteries in the last year ......but i could have bought a brand new one for 50 quid and the bloke where i get em reckons i would get minimum 16 hrs from one that was working at full capacity so its probably been a false economy really ::) its just a lot easier to part with a fiver  ;D

I have an omnitrolly classic well there some of it left as i no longer use it and a pump went in my van system so i took the pump from my omnitrolly.

But it was a good trolley but once i got the van system it only got used about once a month.

Now if i can't do it with my van system i use a ladder.

But for anyone that does not want or can't afford a van system get a trolley you won't regret it.

I made a DIY trolley,.. but even in its second incarnation, stripped down and as lightweight as possible, dragging it in and out of the van and lugging barrels of water (never mind the work & time filling them!) was hard work! I had about 15 mtrs of hose on mine, so for most houses I didn't have to move it much to get all the way round, something I'd defo recommend to all new trolley users.
For my round the new van mount setup is much better, and saves me a lot of effort each day,.. I just have a backpack for the occasional awkward job.
I'm not knocking trolleys though,.. it all depends on what suits YOUR round,.. and every round is different

same here but have separate van mount setup. I use the van mount mostly now though but the trolley has been a fantastic purchase. If i could by all wfp gear again i would buy the same. Apart from poles.

since i have gone back to using my car for the mo i use
my freedom trolley in my car as a mini van system it stays in car with my barrels
and i have a six feet length of 1/2 inch hose out of my boot which i connect my reel of 50mtrs of microbore bore to.

much easier than lugging everything in and out

The freedom trolley with 17mtrs of pole hose was my choice too as it's well suited to my round. Virtually all my houses are terraced and in blocks. Parking a van mounted system would be a real problem in many places but with the trolley I can go virtually anywhere.

Just about to start in wfp. Will only be using trolley as that is all I have room for in my car.

Paul, are you interested in selling what is left of your omnitrolley? I would be interested in buying!  ;D

Its always handy as a backup just got to buy a new pump for it.

Hi Ian,

I know the Freedom trolley is an expensive piece of kit but it is well made and also one of the most compact when folded down. If space is an issue, which if you're working from a car then it probably will be, then the Freedom is an excellent choice. The good people at freedom are also very helpful when you need service.

If you've got the right work for it, it will pay for itself fairly quickly.

My work is nearly all terraced work and it works very well for me.

No worries Paul. Thanks anyway.  :)

I have only heard good things about the freedom trolley and their customer service. Glad to hear you are experiencing the same M&C.

I guess the biggest problem with wfp in my situation is the space issue.

I've posted this before Ian, but here it is again. The car's a 99 Nissan Primera. I currently only use 5 barrels a day but six will go in with the trolley if need be. It may be helpful to you.

Thanks for the photo M&C. Very helpful!  :)

So PJ, pros for trolley seem to be portability and convenience.
Cons seem to centre around refilling them.  ;D
