Wooden are ok up to a certain height and then the extra weight really slows you down.  I have some double 10's and these have been alright, I got some triple 12's and they are barely usable, they weigh in at over 50 kg.b  You will work faster with the alloy, you'll just have colder hands in the winter, plus your hands pick up the oxidization off of the ladders.  The wooden take more maintenance though.
