Hi All
I recently went to clean an 80/20 cream twist/tuft pile lounge carpet at a regular client of mine. One of her grandchildren had dropped or dripped yellow ice lolly on to the cream carpet and client had tried using 1001 Wonder Foam to remove the spots but without any success.
The client showed me the wrapper of ice lolly where it stated no artifical colourants were used.
I first rinse extacted residue of 1001 product and then applied Prochem Stainpro but after dwell time, agitation and blotting with clean white towel there was no transfer of yellow on to towel. I also used Prochem Red Rx which is good for treating food colourings and fruit juices but again there was no improvement.
My client has made contact with manufacturer of the offending product and was told that the yellow colouring ingredient used in their product is Turmeric, an East Asian spice.
Any advice on how to remove these problem spots will be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Julian

Unfortunately that is the reason for curry stains becoming permanent it's in virtually all Indian and Chinese curries

Carpet Guy is spot on, it is going to be permanent, turmeric will dye the carpet fibre permanantly. You could offer to put a bleaching agent on there and maybe make the stain invisible, but could also leave a lighter patch. otherwise suggest an insurance claim against accidental damage. Good luck

We have a plate that my wife used to eat a curry she had made using Turmeric, it has been through the dish washer loads of times, but the yellow stain still remains. :(
You have no chance of getting it out of your customers carpet.

Turmeric’s colour properties is everlasting, It is a powerful yellow dye; therefore keep away from touching your clothing when working with turmeric. (What a bummer then accidents happen insurance claim?)

Many thanks for your help and thoughts on this guys.
I will inform my client that there is little else that can be done to improve the situation for her and that perhaps the best way forward now is the insurance claim.
Cheers
