wish me luck as two local window cleaners are retiring and i have done a deal to buy one of the rounds, smallish but compact ,and i,am out with the second one tomorrow to meet his customers. he has 85 properties and i would like to get around them all before i spend my money....any advice you have would be good hopefully in the next couple of weeks i could be a fully fledged member of the brotherhood!

if they are well established rounds (more than 3 years old) and they are sensibly priced per property then do the decent thing and give the guys a fair price for the work - I'd say no less than 3x the monthly return.
best of luck

I know in business you want to pay the least possable price. But this is your future income and their hardwork you are paying for. Also think of how much time and effort it would have cost you to built up such a round. Put yourself in their shoes a bit and pay a decent price. That way you will also get more help from them if needed. After 3 cleans you are into good profit. After 3 cleans those guys income is gone.

Don't want to put a dampner on it but a lot of "old boy" w/c also have old boy prices. i picked some up once & had to double the price just to make them half decent!

What is a smogie?

A smogie is a Boro FC supporter

Not many smogies about then?

dead right macmac ,went out with the guy 1.50 for this £2.00 pound for that, felt sorry for the guy as he could have retired 5 years ago had he steadily raised his prices....so met some of his custy,s and put the price up for him, probably could double the value of his round for him if i went round them all.........whats worst is the customers new they were talking the mick out of him...but as he said he was always to shy to ask them for a pay rise.

Ditto
The work i took over was the same, i gained the custy's free because the retiring guy just retired. i think he knew he wouldn't be able to sell his work at the current prices. Basicaly, the guy was too shy to put his prices up too. ;)
I could have had more of his work but tended not to bother as it's one thing putting a price up & another having to double it!

I`ve taken on work like this before years ago and to be honest if they need to be increased 100% the customers know it to,if they argue there normally taking the P***.numptyody doubles the price unless there`s a need.

did you really mean that they WON'T take more than the monthly income?
Sort out the wheat from the chaff and go for it at that rate. their problem if they won't accept more. ;D
