Title: I give up!
Post by: frames to panes on February 28, 2008, 05:01:44 pm
Went to one of my regulars today, reasonable size job and i got "not today thanks - we've all got colds! ??? ??? ???
Picked up a new one today "are you looking for a windowcleaner?""yes i am"
I tell her it will take a while for the first clean, "it shouldn't do" she says "the've only just been cleaned" so i asked if she had a window cleaner " yes he has gone to Australia for four months so i only want you 'till he comes back" ::)
Got to another job and i realise i've left my trip warning sign somewhere - god knows where. ::)
Snapped my fishing pole yesterday. Had to insure the van yesterday. Had to order a pole section from another pole today. I've got a business in reverse!
Oh well, another day tomorrow!

Bad luck!

Colds eh? I had one a couple of years back who had "just come back from holiday" what difference does that make?  ???

That fishing pole should be repairable if its tapered and not broken right on the end. Just slide the narrow end through the wider bit until they are tight. If it looks ok (but shorter) just araldite the join and tape it up. Stronger than new!

Bodged it for now - it was quite badly split - several splits six inches long, i had another old split section in the garage so ive slid one inside the other and superglued them together. Only a cheap pole so not the end of the world just yet.

That's the way to do it! But Sssh! Don't tell Tennet Clean or he'll deride you for tackiness! ;)

Once had a customer tell me that her windows didn't "feel clean".
Still don't get it, even today.

One of my customers is Paul Pritchard an ex pro cricketer. Last week I there nd he came out with the old chestnut 'Dont bother doing it I think its going to rain'. So I wasn'tgoing to let him get away with it and said 'Rain might stop play in your job but us window cleaners are tougher than that!!' and I just carried on.
