Title: what a day
Post by: matt on February 25, 2008, 05:26:58 pm
i was all geared up for another good 3 days wrok, the weather looks ok for the 3 days ( wel tuesday is light rain, but i have a big house that gets done in the rain, thats due, so that was my tuesday planed )

took daughter to school

got home, got changed and went to garage to get battery

picked it up, the handle snapped clean off, bounced on the drive and split open, acid everwhere, the stink was really bad as it ate into the driveway :(, washed drive down with water in the hopse that it would dispearse the acid a little

put battery in bucket and took it straight to the recycling place, dropped it off and i spotted a rather large container full of car batteries

i put a small battery in my bucket, its 44 aph ( which is a very nice size )

i get to start work at 11 :(

anyways, i crack on and get my days work done before the battery dies

even though the 44 aph is a very nice size, its a little too small, i used 7 25L barrels and it was dead, i normally only use 4 - 6 barrels, but on some of my houses i do up and down its handy to have that little extra "in the tank"

get some and my drive is white, the acid looks like its taken all the colour out of the tarmac  >:( >:(

i now need to order a 85 aph leisure battery and get it here pretty sharpish

I've got a slightly tired 75ah one spare if you need to borrow it, should get through a day. Give me a shout - or better still take another day off, i'll do your work (take all the money too) where are you based? ;D
Your going to need to empty another battery over the drive just to get it all to match now.

Any decent camping shop should hold them in stock
around £50 ish
You will not get many companies delivering batteries to you.
Due to a hazard you should know all about  :o :o

Batteries can be pretty nasty things. I know from my previous existence in the shipping world that there is an awful lot of restrictions on them because of it.

The main thing is you didn't hurt yourself.  :)

thats strange i use a 40 ah sealed gel battery, and that will last me 3-4 days work without charging...

cheers guys

the last battery i got was 40 quid and the delivered it for free ( about 1 hour away from me  ??? ??? )

im giving thr battery a good charge tonight, it might have been run down as it was left at the recycling center, to be honest if i get 8 barrels  ( 200 L ) out of it i will be happy
