If anyone calls you after getting your number from the phone book wanting to sell a round at a very cheap price be very careful.
At least 5(maybe more) window cleaners down here in Dorset have been sold the same round, myself included.
I just thought I'd warn all of you. Basically he goes through the phone book offering a round, in this case about £950 of work for £500. It is legit work although it hasn't been done for long. You meet up with him and he introduces you to some of the customers.
But what he does is say that most of the customers aren't due for 2 or 3 weeks which gives him time to take round other windows cleaners.
Then finally he just phones up WC and sells the book of customers for a couple of hundred.
We all felt right suckers but he was a pro conman so beware he may try the trick somewhere else.

what somepeople do for a fast buck.. id never be able to do that scamming off people like that, i had a mess up when i bought a round where he didnt bother introducing, informing customers, and some didnt even exist, but to rip off several wcers is very naughty theft.

The customers are none to pleased handing out there addresses AND phone numbers to loads of people. I'm planning on going to the police so if anyone has heard of a similar scam and might know who he is then I'd gratful for any information. He told us his name was Dan Turner but gave us a bogus mobile number.
He was a London boy with the gift of the Gab or should I say...very good at lying!!
To be honest I think he's the sad case not us for actually feeling comfortable doing things like that.
-
Did you not post this topic some time back!!!!
-
I did ask about Dan Turner but since then much more has come to light
-
Report it to the Police, don't let others get caught. Then take him to the small claims court but you have to do the latter.
-
I will do...if I can track him down!
-
This sort of thing used to go on years ago with window cleaning rounds advertised in LOOT. The whole thing is very risky unless you know the bloke selling the round.

Long gone I should imagine

He said he came from Harrow, thats near Pinner isn't? Keep an eye out for me would you.
He's short, dark hair and looks as though he been hit with the ugly stick.
-
Get a photo shot of him and then get the Fed / AWPC to put it up on their website.
-
Pinner is in Harrow or part of it is. The name doesn't mean anything to me but there are so many window cleaners about these days.
Lloyd Birchley is more likely to know than me but if you get any info I am happy to check it out.
Have you run a check on the electoral register website for Harrow? Search by name.

I have two days work in Eastcote and Northwood when I'm up next I might just pay a visit to the Library. I'm quite philosophical about the whole thing but a wouldn't like to imagine what a couple of the others would do to him if they caught up with him.
Thats one thing I know for sure someone WILL catch up with that smart**** one day if he keeps up that trick.

I have to say "Dan Turner" sounds like a false name.
-
Re bebo- similar but not him. Hearing that he's done it elsewhere make me more determined to track the swine down.
Managed to scrap some of the work together yesterday. Did about £150(from the original supposed £950) so that wasn't too bad. But you could tell he didn't know what he was doing as his prices were way out. Some way to high, some to low. You could see that he was just looking at the customer and seeing what he could get away with. Seemed nice customers though but time will tell whether they are any good.
