Tuesday-both my pre-filters cracked due to the freezing weather and Friday i knocked my varistream on for half an hour, due the pole being in the van it soaked both seats and water was coming out the interior lights!!
After this week and nearly a hundred wasted quid i was seriously p####d!
I put it down to bad luck rather than plain stupidity as this type of thing doesn't normally happen to me, but it does get you down!
-
yes just a bit of bad luck for you mate lets hope next weeks better for you .

Get yourself a Harris decorators pole from B&Q, It's aluminium, 5 metres telescopic and under £!5. I do most of my domestics with it, really easy to convert for WFP too. Dai
-
me the same
weather stop me for 2 days
systems froze up in van , all my fitting now leak
wind twisted van door
onwards and upwards
-
Sounds good Dai, only 15.4 ft though.. would struggle with some jobs that i had my 18fter fully extended. maybe i can quickly fix up a diy pole from that, il go there tommorow, i can get seome 6mm silicone tubing from a local shop, and i have 1 fan spray jet in my spares box, i think il hook it up some how as an overhead fan spray jet, il need a decent brush from somewhere though? I have some aluminium tent poles.
im sure i can fix up something.
With that b&q pole what brush can i get that will fit it with a angle adaptor?
thanks Dai

An extender(fibreglass) 18 footer will will be fine, i use them on domestics and for that length you don't have to worry about rigidity they are fine and dirt cheap, look at wintecs etc they do next day delivery!

21ft... gardiners... only £85... do tops , bottoms, nice and light and fits in van....

Are those thye one's with the twist the pole to tighten not a clamp.
Did you change the top of the pole as there is no thread on the harris one's
I was looking at them myself in B&Q not sure what make i was looking at though.

what a numpty ..theres no fu....g way I would miss 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would of got up at 6 and driven to the nearest pole supplier
and got got back to work to make up the money lost on [1] buying the pole [2 wasting diesel and time just to get it
who are these people ?? , and they wonder why they go bust??? ......sorry mate 3 days off my arse you wouldn`t work for me!!! or my missus she would defo kick your butt lol lol Edd
-
Yes edd perhaps i just dont care. Im still waiting for my pole to come.. useless ebayers .... i would have made a triumphant effort to sort something out but i am in a little world of my own where i only have monthly outgoings of £20 + fuel and nothing to live for. Just i wait til i have a smelly mortgage, kids and tons of bills to pay. I had a few days off and waited for my pole which still hasnt come.
Paul, if they are the twist to tighten b&q poles, i have a way of making easier clamps as that would be a bit fiddley. Il bodge together something tommorow and give you some pics of my creation after work.

this is the pole Dai was talking about
http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9373232&fh_view_size=6&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=harris+pole&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1204020915854&isSearch=true
how did you convert the top part to fit a angle adaptor Dai? do these harris poles flex much ?
for the clamps you could take off the plastic twist method and cut three slits around the top, and fit fixed jubilee clips with turn handles, so you can clamp easier like on these poles look at the clamp method:

Refreshing to see someone with some common sense post a very sensible comment.. I just bought a 30 ft (7section) hybrid extel pole from w***c*****w***** for £235+VAT with brush as a spare, bargain IMO as £115 cheaper than competitors. I don't need it yet but it will suit me fine as a spare when I do need it.

The end section of the B&Q Harris pole has the same inside diameter as the unger no2 section. I just cut the end off and inserted a piece of unger no1 section into it, I pop riveted this in place and drilled a 6mm hole through the end, it now takes an unger angle, or screw thread adapter. It's a robust lightweight pole, and under £15. Got to be worth having one, even if you just keep it as a spare. dai
-
great bit of advice from dai had spare bits and bobs hanging around so went to b&q purchased a
pole and £15 later i have a nice light weight pole for me two ups and downs
-
i went to b& q today but couldnt find this pole, they only had a different version, or the shorter 3.5meter harris pole.
I noticed it has a metal screw end on the top, and is easy to extend. Would have got one but they didnt have it¬!
-
My local B&Q don't display this pole with the window cleaning stuff, It's in the painting an decorating section. Dai
-
yes, thats where i looked but they only had shorter harris poles not the 5 meter one.
-
